Tobar Magic Tree Crystal Growing Activity Set

This was so so so cool, my children (7 and 10) loved them. Easy to make, and started developing within a few hours. We did them in the afternoon and by the following morning they were fully puffed, absolutely magical. They are very very fragile, but tbh I'd rather not have another thing like this to display and store. We have enjoyed looking at them for a couple of weeks and now they are going in the bin! Great product. I thought it was pricey but actually well worth it in my opinion

My goal now is to create a life sized forest of these magical trees to entice the fairies back to our blighted, grey shores. These are awesome. I remembered them from when I was a kid. Easy to set up, and it was great fun for my daughters to come and check on them and see how they developed. Ended up looking just like the picture - took around 24-36 hours in total for ours, but totally worth it given the price. Bought them as stocking fillers. Yes, they are flimsy, they are constructed of two pieces of absorbent cardboard which you slot together into a cross shape (had to enlarge the slot slightly on one of them, but that took 2 seconds with some scissors). You then stand them in the plastic base and pour in the liquid. This is slowly absorbed into the cardboard, creeping up the height of the "tree" where it reacts with the chemicals painted onto the branches and creates the crystals that you can see. They look amazing with a great range of colours. Extremely fragile, and don't expect them to last or be "movable", so set them up somewhere where you can leave them, but great fun to watch for a few days and enjoy for a couple more.

It looks spectacular and grows very fast, we had brilliant results the next morning but the picture is from a few days later. Looks like crystals but the texture os fluffy and fragile, shakes off very easily so if you want something the kids can touch this is not it but mine loves it and is content to just observe how it changes every day.

My 10 y/o loved watching this so it's thing. Took a few hours but was good to see the progress and it worked really well. Definitely for the age range advised but was easy to put together. Was a good price for what it is and the best part was you could throw it away when done

This toy is made of a green cardboard body (approx 10cm high) made of 2 pieces which should be set up as to have a proper tree (looks like a Christmas tree, actually). The ends of the tree are differently coloured - this will give the final crystals different shades. The tree then is to be fixed into a small plastic pool, which will contain the "magic" liquid. This is kept into a sachet. The box also contains complete instruction in English. Well, as to perform your tree, set up the body you need pouring the liquid into the pool, as to have it absorbed by the carboard. In about 6 hours you'll have your small "Magic Tree" done. Even before that time, you should start seeing progress. It is a very impressive toy, as you wouldn't imagine crystals could come up from what at first sight looks like water. Is actually a toxic chemical product (I mean, "toxic" as your washing-up liquid is, probably), so do explain that to your kids and do not let the little ones play with in inappropriate ways (as some of them sometimes do). Said this, is very impressive and surprising, as I already said, and your kids will probably pass by over and over again to keep an eye on what's happening. Then, the only thing is that the crystals, in my experience, were not very durable (what a pity) but for the expense it was more than what I expected. So, nice small cheapy toy, good to entertain elementary school or just curious boys and girls :)

Great product. Simple to use. The crystals look amazing and grow really quickly. Our photo is 24 hours after we started and the crystals really impressed us. 11 and 14 year old enjoyed this enormously. It was exciting to see how much they had grown at various points in the day. They'd changed every time we came back in the room. We followed the advice of other reviewers and placed the stands on a tray to grow them so they didn't have to be moved and risk breakages. The colours are fab. Great value for money and conscientiously packaged. Highly recommended.

Not a good one. Arrived ripped packaging and hardly and magic mixture in the packet. As a result the tree didn’t grow any crystals. Do not recommend.

Nostalgic toy, fun to do with kids and a lovely experiment for those into science! Decent size and stayed stable

Perfecto

Mon enfant était ravi de son arbre magique. Il a pu jouer au petit chimiste et découvrir une expérience amusante et impressionnante. L’effet obtenu a vraiment émerveillé mon enfant.

Also top.
