Ridiculously expensive when compared with £12.00 for the Dualit 510 Lite Double Pack Sandwich Cages but unfortunately they don't fit the 499 model. bought two of the 499 cages on the same day; one from Selectric for £15.02 and one that was fulfilled by Amazon for £15.45. I paid the extra for the latter as it contributed to the £20 needed for free delivery of other items. The order from Selectric was delivered the next day, new, boxed with menu booklet enclosed. The Amazon fulfilled order was similarly new & boxed but I had to wait a couple of extra days for delivery (no excuse for the delay, as it wasn't combined in the same box as my other items). Re. the item itself - I have used it as a pure indulgence for easily extracting bread from the toaster without burning fingers or needing to use a knife (I don't eat toasted sandwiches so can't advise on its efficiency in that respect). I know you could probably buy a new toaster for the cost of the cage but it is very well manufactured, does the job I ask of it and will probably last the life of the Dualit toaster itself. It's excellent also for compressing and toasting thicker items such as bagels.

I use to toast buns and it does this well. I have had no experience of buns “squidging” or “splurging” out between cage bars and burning

Great product and easy to use. The down side is that sometimes the bread has to be cut to fit in the product.

Great quality, solid and will last years. Really good for roasties or anything other than sliced bread. Not cheap but worth it for the quality.

This works well enoughand is simple to use, but it doesn't work for most bread types are it is quite narrow. It is more an issue of the slot width in the classic toaster than the cage itself. Bread naturally moulds around the cage and sticks out, easily burning. We found a work around by using softer breads, removing the crust and squashing the sandwich prior to toasting. We will likely buy a separate sandwich toaster at some point in future.

We bought one of these when we bought our toaster and never quite got round to buying a second one. This new one is an exact match and works perfectly which is not that surprising until I tell you we bought the toaster in 2004! It is very rare for any appliance to last this long, let alone being able to buy accessories for it after all this time. Bravo Dualit!

Great product. Worked well, good quality and sturdiness. It fit my Dualit toaster because it was made by Dualit. It came in a Dualit box. Specifications are on the product box of which year models this will fit. Check your models and make sure you are buying an official Dualit product. I did think the cost was expensive, but I feel it was worth it because I wanted the brand name accessories to go with it's brand name appliance.
