I love this Anker Upgraded Soundcore Boost Bluetooth speaker. Let me tell you why. It has a good battery life when charged up. It has good bluetooth connectivity to the devices it was connected to. The sound quality is a lot better than you would expect from something so small. There is 20W of sound pumped out with a punchy base level. It is easy to use and easy to set up. Being portable is a plus as is its durablity as it is well made and seems solid. It's also waterproof and can be used to charge your phone! You will not be disappointed with this purchase.

Honestly, I didn’t expect much when I bought this speaker — I thought it would be just another small, budget Bluetooth speaker. I was wrong. For its size, the sound is surprisingly powerful and full-bodied. The bass is deep and punchy without being muddy or overwhelming, and the mids are clean and clear, making vocals easy to hear. High frequencies are smooth and not harsh. It sounds much bigger than it looks. Build quality is also very impressive. The speaker feels solid and well-made, with quality materials and responsive buttons. It definitely doesn’t feel cheap. I mainly use it with my TV, and the difference compared to the built-in TV speakers is huge. Dialogue is much clearer, the sound feels more immersive, and once you get used to it, it’s hard to go back to TV speakers. Overall, this is an excellent value for money. Great sound, solid build, and very versatile — perfect for music, movies, and everyday use at home. Highly recommended if you want big sound from a compact speaker without paying premium brand prices.

This is my 11th Anker product & as such I had high expectations. I specifically wanted a Bluetooth speaker as my tv is against a connecting wall with my housemate & I wanted to be able to listen to the sound over the opposite side of the room so it doesn’t disturb her. My tv is not Bluetooth enabled but I have a Jetech Bluetooth transmitter which works well with my wireless headphones. The main reason I have scored this product low on Bluetooth connectivity is because everytime I try to connect it (almost without fail) it takes 4+ attempts for it to connect, this is when the devices are next to each other. The speaker claims to be connected successfully each time but no sound comes out - this happens numerous times so I have to unpair & re-pair until it finally manages to connect successfully & actually plays the sound. Also it occasionally disconnects randomly whilst I’m watching something. Given that my main use for this is as a Bluetooth enabled speaker this is infuriating & not what I’d expect from Anker. The reason I went for this particular Anker speaker over cheaper Anker ones is the boost up function, however looking at the instruction book this appears only to work if the distance is under one metre which I don’t recall being mentioned in the speaker specifics & is disappointing as I am using it at a distance of approximately 5m & notice absolutely no difference when boost up is switched on or off. That said if your primary interests in purchasing a speaker is sound quality & aesthetics & Bluetooth connectivity is not a factor then I would recommend this speaker as the sound is genuinely impressive for such a small device, battery life seems good also. Edit Anker contacted me in response to my original review & sent me a replacement. Although it connected slightly better I was still having problems to the extent that I ended up having to purchase a new Bluetooth transmitter. I am now using the avantree priva III transmitter which works seamlessly. The boost function still makes no difference a few meters from the Bluetooth source hence marking down a star. The sound quality however is excellent. The charge lasts about a day if used continuously. Takes a few hours to charge back to full but will charge whilst in use. The ability to use it to charge your phone is great as I sometimes forget to charge my power-bank The power on and off sound is unobtrusive and it’s very straightforward to connect to Bluetooth just hold down the on button to set in to pairing mode The plastic flap covering the charging ports is a snug fit so takes a bit of effort to pull out but it keeps them dust free I suppose which is probably a good feature One thing I have noticed is that shortly after I purchased this for £39.99 the price increased to £49.99. A couple of weeks after this Anker then put this on ‘sale’ for £39.99 which I felt was a bit misleading.

First off, this looks and feels like a quality little device. Nice rubbery texture on the top and bottom (though I hope it doesn't go all sticky and nasty after a few years...) and fabric across the front and back. Nice sold rubber cover over the power connectors too. Bluetooth 5 connectivity seems to work fine, pairing was easy. Sound quality is pretty good considering the size. If you're playing stuff with lots of low frequency rhythmic components, e.g. drum & bass, you'll find the speaker gives up for the lower stuff, but for most pop and definitely voice and classical music I've put through it this device does an amazing job. I like the size and shape, it's easier to fit into places (including bags if you're moving around) than a rounded design. I was also interested (thought have yet to try) the hands free speakerphone capability of this device. Likewise, being able to use it as a power bank is good idea - there's no point in it having good battery life if the phone you're playing the music from dies! I've used the Soundcore app to adjust the audio equaliser and that works pretty well. It will let you boost the bass to a point where the audio starts to distort, but that's fair enough and that point will be different depending on the type of music and volume level. Overall, nice little unit.

The short version: If you want to spend as little as possible for a great sounding speaker just get it. You will not regret it. Note: It's not for big parties. Review: I gave it five stars not because it's Hi-Fi quality sound, obviously it's not, but value for money. For £33 you're just not going to get a better sounding speaker - And it sounds good. It's also a solid feeling speaker. I do like a good sounding speaker and this delivers. I'm currently listening to a big bassy song with saxophone and it sounds smooth, comfortable to listen to, does not grate on your ears like cheap speakers do. Yes there is some clarity missing but the nice bass makes up for that. I also had the Soundcore Motion Plus with its very nice clarity but the Boost has superior bass and hence overall it's a better listen. However, when the volume is turned up above 75% or to maximum, the speaker will lose its deepish bass; The mids will come through quite significantly losing it's warm listening signature. I didn't buy it for loud listening as I have a big Tribit bluetooth speaker for that. So for my listening which is at about 50% it's perfect. If you want a speaker for loud listening then you need to move up to bigger speakers, not these "coat pocketable" ones.

Anker - The name should have been anchor. This product proves the quality of Anker yet again at a affordable Price. I do have a passion to seek perfectness in audio quality (Even there is no ideal state and can only be comparable with other). Design: The product has a professional look to it. You can't expect any fancy stuffs as in Bose or other speakers with aluminium finish. But it is IPX5 rated which means you can make it shower with accidental spills on it. But there is a difference between Water resistance and Waterproof. This is Water resistant. i.e. you can spill water on it but you cannot drop it inside a pool. My personal view, this is the best look on a water resistant speaker so far I have seen with a professional finish to it. The star of the show is the dedicated button for bass boost. You can turn the bass down if you are in mood for some mild music on night. It packs a bit of weight, but remember heavy speakers are always best sounding speakers. Battery indicator was provided with 4 light dots which is quite handy to keep an eye of charge levels while playing music. Note: It can charge external device with its 5200 mAH battery which means its a speaker as well as a powerbank. But if you spend the battery on charging then reduced play time as any common sense would say. Sound: High quality sound I would say in a single term. For persons claiming Anker Soundcore is way too good, they should try this boost. The main reason I loved it is it adds lot of powerful bass to it but without compromising the quality/clarity of the music. Usually there will be a trade off between Bass & Clarity (Sound core is too clear but lacks bass), but this maintains the balance pretty good and it is quite capable of annoying your neighbours in terms of volume when turned high. Again have to appreciate the bass button here, for some songs if you feel the rumble is too much, then you can turn it down which plays the balanced sound without any distortion. But I LOVE ITS THUMPING BASS! especially for its size. As per my title, it anchored sound quality on this one. Connectivity: Never had an issue so far for a week while connecting to my iphone, ipad or Echo dot. Haven't tried NFC yet though. Battery: Anker claims 12 hours of music. Have listened to it for 3 days straight out of box at 50 -60% of volume (Enough for my room size) at average use of 2 hrs per day and still going strong with 1 point out of 4 in the battery indicator. Out of box it had just 75% battery with 3 points, so you can imagine it pretty much matches its spec but might vary if played on high volumes. I am yet to charge it, so will let you know if any major deviations on the charging time from specs. Verdict: I am more than happy to give this gem a 5 star rating for the build and sound quality at an affordable price range. You should pay 3 times of this money to get similar sound quality products from brands like Bose, Sonos, etc. My personal view is Bose Sound link mini cannot even compete with this interms of bass. I like the sound of Bose soundtouch 10 and it almost matches it (may not be on volume due to size restrictions). Anker keep surprising with some more quality products. I am Happy to review them if I get a chance. Finally I never had a need to reach to Anker customer care so far but heard its one of the best.

Update June 2023: Anker got in touch after previous review and replaced with an upgraded speaker, soundcore pro at no extra cost. This speaker is still going strong and sounds great after a lot of use and tough use on many trips. Great customer care. Have bought two of these speakers in the last six months. The first one in February after reading the positive reviews and to replace a much loved Cambridge Audio Go that got left out overnight in the rain. Whilst the Cambridge had a lovely rich sound it was never quite loud enough to get a party going when taken to full volume. The Anker was certainly a big step up in this respect with the bass-up feature giving great punchy sound and plenty of volume even if the mid-range is a little hollow and lacking in the subtlety that made the Cambridge easy to listen to all day. That said, at less than half the price and size of the Cambridge it is great value for money as well as being highly portable. This first speaker is still working perfectly and delivering the remarkable deep bass sound that many people have described in their reviews. Great battery life too. So far so good. Having been so pleased with this product we bought another one as a present for our son in April and he was delighted with it and particularly its capabilities around bass and volume. Unfortunately after 4 months the micro USB charging port has failed on this second speaker meaning that it is no longer possible to achieve a proper connection to charge it. Amazon customer support were very good and the speaker has now been returned in exchange for a full refund. All in all a mixed bag experience with one great little speaker still knocking out the kind of bass and sound that surprises every time and the other one in a van heading back to Amazon courtesy of Royal Mail. May have been unlucky with the second speaker as the build quality seems pretty high in general but now mulling over whether to roll the dice again and order another one or perhaps pay a bit more for one of the big brands. Four/five stars for first speaker and one star for the second one.
