Kingston DataTraveler Max Type-A 512GB High Performance USB Flash Drive USB 3.2 Gen 2 Up to 1000 MB/s Sliding Cap Design DTMAXA/512GB

I had my eye on this Kingston Data Traveler Max for a long period of time finally I brought it. Speed:- Its speed as advice in the box my HP Laptop which has USB 3.2 Gen 2 got the speed as mention in the box (Screenshot Provided 1st Crystal Disk Mark Screen Shot (In Hp Omen Laptop)) Expect Speed for USB 3.0 (2nd Crystal Disk Mark(For PC - 9th Gen i7 Processor) & USB 2.0 (Last one (In my PC & Laptop (More or less the same Speed))) Build Quality:- Decent Build Quality, Plastic Build , Long , Gets little warm while using,has Blue light Indication as well. Storage Capacity:- Brought 512GB got 477GB of free space which is what expected. File System:- Comes in Two File System NTFS and exFAT (Recommend If You are using to transfer larger files above 64GB then use this otherwise NTFS for Data Compression or for Mac users). Ease of Use:- Easy to use but I like have a clean setup so i formatted it to ex-fat cause I will using for storing large data file. FYI:- When I First Brought the Seal was broken someone resealed it over broken seal box was tapered crushed when i open the amazon packet I knew something is fishy and open the box and plugged the pen drive well it didn't no work no indication both PC and Laptop, checked my driver all didn't work no USB Light Indication as well then got a small notification on disk management in PC that its either corrupted or unrecognizable so I returned immediately the day I brought after 5 Days got a fresh brand new with company seal recently manufactured. Tested the product work flawless with no issue so far. Thanks to Amazon for easy return. Overall Satisfied with Speed and build quality cause there are no other pen drive that provide this speed brought it for Rs. 5,839. Maybe I will Buy a Data Traveler Max Type -C one for my Android Device.

The average speed of this Kingston DataTaveler Max on a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port was found to be 3 times the average speed of Sandisk Extreme Pro USB 3.1. And on a USB 3.0 port, the average speed of Kingston DataTraveler Max was higher than Sandisk Extreme Pro USB 3.1. Even Price wise Kingston DataTraveller Max 256GB is 50% cheaper than Sandisk Extreme Pro USB3.1 The speed of a Pen drive depends on many things: Speed Testing Purpose: if it's used on speed testing software like CrystalDisk mark where we want to check if the speed mentioned by the manufacturer exists, then under such case we have to arrange the exact hardware required to achieve such speed. I used the pen drive on a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A Port for my test, thus I was able to achieve the manufacturer-claimed speed. But CrystalDiskMark uses the overall bus speed of the motherboard which in my case was 16GB/s(All motherboards having NVME Gen 4 or higher storage have 16GB/s Bus speed) thus it was able to attain the speed of approx. 1GB/s Read and write, but let’s suppose someone is using this pen drive on an older motherboard whose bus speed is 6GB/s( All motherboards having SATA SSD, M.2 SSD, NVME Gen 1 have bus speed of 6GB/s) then the maximum speed he/she could achieve would be maximum 550MB/s if used on a USB3.1/USB3.0 Type-A port. Practical Speed: The practical speed of the pendrive will vary between different storages. If files are copied or written to an HDD using USB 2.0 max speed is 35MB/s, an HDD using USB3.0 Max speed is 150MB/s, an SSD SATA using USB2.0 Max speed is 35MB/s, an SSD SATA using USB3.0 max speed is 550MB/s, an NVME Gen 1 using USB3.0 max speed of 550MB/s, on an NVME Gen 2 Using USB3.1 max speed is 550MB/s, on an NVME Gen 4 using USB 3.2 port max speed 1200MB/s and so on …. Speed also depends upon the type of file been copied or written Let’s suppose it’s a zipped file of 10GB the speed will be the highest, it’s a single video file of 10GB it will be relatively slower, it’s its multiple pictures all summing up to 10GB the speed will be the slowest. Thus, it depends upon many factors, it would be best to have specified hardware before buying if you are willing to achieve higher speeds.

Even though the packaging wasn't good at all but the product is excellent 👌. I'd recommend anyone to buy while offers are available. 1 star has been cut down for bad packaging.

The Kingston pen drive is not ideal, as its data transfer speed is significantly lower than that of a SanDisk. Therefore, don't buy this pendrive.

Review of Kingston DataTraveller Max 256GB purchased for €37.45 TLDR: banger value, great performance, easy recommend; just make sure to plug it in correctly. This USB Drive doesn't disappoint, it goes beyond the advertised max. sequential speeds by about 50MB/s, is compact and stylish, light, the plastic shell doesn't get hot (unlike the aluminium SanDisk drives), has an activity light, and is retractable. The advertising around USB 3.2 Gen 2 can be misleading because of the confusing USB spec. In this review I will use the old and clear USB spec without gens or 2x2s or whatever. The max advertised speed of this drive is 1000MB/s seq. read and 900MB/s seq. write which corresponds to the old USB 3.1 or 3.1 gen 2 or the new 3.2 gen2x1, not USB 3.2 or 3.2 gen 2x2 (see image table for what I'm talking about). The drive auto-negotiates to USB 3.1 (max. 1212 MB/s), USB 3.0 (max. 500MB/s), and USB 2.0 (max. 60MB/s) according to the port you plug it into (see CrystalDiskMark score images). Do note that if you don't stick it in perfectly (which can easily happen because of the retractable mechanism), it will safely negotiate to USB 2.0 speeds so it will still function but much slower than it can (see images for what I mean), so make sure to plug it in properly to get full speeds! Compared to my sandisk ultra flair (currently €21.99) which tops out at just 166MB/s seq. read and 27MB/s seq. write, it's easily worth the extra 15 euro for massively improved performance, so I can confidently say this Kingston is a genuinely great value for what it delivers. I'll be happy using it for my windows-to-go installation and can recommend it to anyone needing solid portable flash drive performance. My only gripe is I wish it had a better retractable mechanism or none at all so as to avoid bad inserts.

自作PCでは何かと自分でメンテナンスや普段の更新作業がありますので、その用途で購入。 今見るとAmazonには在庫が無いようで、購入時点で終盤だったのかな？ 今のところ、不具合も無く、高速のままです。 とは言え、USBメモリーですので、使用時だけ保存できれば問題無いかな。

Read/write speed is around 200 Mb/s - fast enough to use it as external working drive. Recommended.
