I just got this boomerang today. It is as described. The coloration is slightly darker than the photo, but it is otherwise exactly as described. I have not taken it outside to test it since it is currently raining here. The boomerang is also much lighter than I imagined when I ordered. It makes sense to have it light in order for it to fly like they do, it was still a bit of a surprise. The boomerang also has a large WARNING label on the packaging about it not being a toy and can possibly injure. It also comes with a useful instruction manual.

Great wooden toy? Tool? I’d buy another

It seems a fact of life that not everyone is able to effectively chuck a boomerang that returns to within a few feet (and not in your face) from where you throw out. The boomerang is a 'combined effects' weapon that not everyone might combine for the effect. The instructions are very good. Practice in a big field. The size is frankly typical for smaller fowl and game. It's a throwing stick, not a throwing tree branch. Pinpoint accuracy on the throw is the objective going out. If it comes back and saves some steps, objective #2 is met. This is designed to return. Many (most?) were designed to throw straight as an arrow and not return rather like a knife (called valari).

We love this boomerang! I've never tried this before but it looked fun so we thought we'd give it a go. My family members like this differently depending on their personality. I love that this gave me a challenge and I read up on how to throw these things, different techniques, the importance of the shape and finish (yes, one side of this is finished and the other is not, and it's supposed to be that way), and different tricks to try out. My kiddos like throwing this around and watching the different ways it flies not caring if it comes back to them or not, because it will actually fly differently depending on how you throw it, the wind direction, whether we're standing on the hill and throwing down or up, etc. Have we been able to successfully boomerang this thing? NOPE! But we've had a ton of fun trying.
