will this work with a PS5?

It has Bluetooth or 2.4 wireless. The best way to check would be to check 8bitdo's website. I bought mine for switch and pc gaming so not sure about the ps5 as I don't have one

does this work with android/chromeos?

I can say for sure it does work for android, as it has built in Bluetooth, not too sure about chrome OS, you may need to find a software to swap the face buttons though.

Can this wake up the Switch? Conflicting answers on here

If the switch is in sleep mode you can wake it using the 8bitdo controller by pressing the home button on the controller and gently shaking it. Pressing home starts a slow blinking light, shaking it makes it go quicker and that way you know it is sending the signal to wake the switch. It's quite cute and you get used to the extra motion quite easily. In fact I quite often shake my regular joycon controller just out of habit when powering on using that.

Will this work on a MacBook, i.e. specifically MacOS, not iOS. I can't seem to get a clear answer.

If you use Bluetooth it will connect to your MacBook, but the 2.4 GHz dongle won’t. The 2.4 GHz only version (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ultimate-Controller-Charging-Windows-Android/dp/B0B9BR6H7N) works with MacBook by dongle, but doesn’t have Bluetooth.
