Does this have to be mounted on the wall, floor or ceiling or can it stand alone on a table?

Dear Customer, Thanks for your attention on our product. With the long extended cord and remote control, the party light could be installed on the wall or ceiling for use or just simply put it on your table. It's flexible for you to choose the way as you need. Best regards, YOODO Customer Service Team

How many would you need for a gym?

I don't know the size of your gun but I'm assuming it's a minimum of a basketball court?? If so, I think you would need about 4 or so because these are very small. (about 3 to 4 inches in diameter) Keep in mind that each one of these needs to be plugged in to an electric receptacle. I bought the following for my party and it was really good! I highly recommend you get something like this. : DJ Party Lights for Stage, OPPSK 5 in 1 Stage Light with Magic Ball, LED Par Pattern Lights and LED Strobe / UV Uplighting for Stage & DJ Lighting Christmas Events Club Disco Party
