Why does this say it can only be used for up to a "500gb hard drive"? is this compatible with a 750gb hard drive or larger? mine is 750gb

I am using a 1TB WD Black hard drive with no issues. 500GB was probably the most it was tested with.

Could someone educate me in how to measure a ssd hard drive so that I will be able to purchase the appropriate one?

Thickness of your original hard disk drive is the main issue. The other dimensions are standards. Take the drive out of your notebook computer and measure the thickness with a metric ruler. There are three thicknesses: 12.5mm, 9mm, and 7mm. Smaller should fit a larger thickness bay, but you may have to add some padding to make up the difference. Larger than your bay will, of course, not fit. So order a size small if you are unsure or if there's a great deal on a 7mm drive and you have a 9mm drive installed. You can just put some foam or a bit of cardboard in there to take up the slack. In short, the only really crucial factor is not to buy a drive THICKER than your computer can accomodate.

Can a kingston 2.5 fit a sata hard drive caddy, universal 12.7 mm sata to sata 2nd ssd hdd hard drive caddy adapter tray enclosures ?

It appears that the caddy is designed to fit just about any standard 2.5" drive. In my Asus laptop I replaced the WD blue hard drive with a SSD and moved the 2.5 WD to this caddy. I no longer needed the CD/DVD.

Will a 7mm ssd fit in this caddy?

yes! my sandisk ssd is 7mm and it fits into an 12.7mm and 9.7mm hdd caddy.
