The 2019 camaro ss with the 6.2 liter lt1 engine calls for 5w40 oil. is this the correct oil to use or is this a diesel oil?

This would be perfect for your Camaro... I use it in my 1,000hp LSA Yukon Denali. Check around for price though, I usually pay around $130 for a case of 12. Check 3rd party sellers on Amazon or use Autoplicity

is this oil non-detergent?

Redline oils are known to have a high amount of detergents & cleaning agents in them, along with several other beneficial additives as well. The end result of long-term use of Redline motor oils according to many of the oil-analysis I've seen is a very clean engine with low levels of wear & tear (assuming the engine hasn't been abused and regular oil change intervals are being followed). I've been using Redline 5W-30 in my 2014 Infiniti Q50 3.7 for the last 3 1/2 years and the engine still runs & performs like it did when it was brand new. According to consumer reviews, oil analysis, and some of the other data out there it's definitely one of the best motor oils that money can buy.

Go for the temperature range for the climate zone you are in. Thinner oils for the winter and all that. For example, a 5W-40 this time of year is good for about anywhere. Where I was a year ago, 0W-40 would be best for New England in the winter. I have also used 15W-40 in the summer in Phoenix. HTH, & Cheers!
