I used this while running electric appliances while my kitchen was being rewired. Since they were all running on the same circuit, I had to be sure not to overload the circuit and this made monitoring the total amps being draw a cinch. And this seemed to fit the bill, it was cheap and looked good in the ad. It worked very well and was very convenient and as accurate as I could easily test it to be with my other meters. It would let me know if I was about to overload the circuit running the hotplate and the toaster oven at the same time, which saved me a bunch of walks out to the fuse box in the night. But, and this is a big one, it taught me a lot about the changing power usages of appliances as well as the rather poor power factor of some of my devices. I wound up learning a lot about the power usage of my kitchen gadgets. It gives some pretty technical information you might not understand if you don't have an electronics degree, but there's still lots of info there to let you know your power usage and costs of running an appliance. Highly recommended.

I use this meter to monitor the charging of my electric car. I use a type 1 charging cable. 120volts. This 120 volt/watt meter is great. It is easy to operate. This meter tells me what I need to know. I can monitor the line voltage, charge current and total watts/kilowatts of charge in real time. The meter face it lighted initially and stays lit for a few minutes. Push any button to light the meter face. The meter holds it's total kilowatts reading even after unplugged. I can keep track of the kilowatts used to charge my car.

Very capable and convenient device for 120 volt tools and appliances. Large backlit display easy to read and provides easy access to all key electrical parameters.

Accurate and easy to use. I've measured various appliances around the house to see how to most efficiently heat my spaces. It turns out that my kotatsu is extremely efficient for staying warm throughout the day, and my oil-filled radiator is best at night. Good to know! The brightness is great when the backlight is on, and there's a little blue light that shines when electricity is in use. It's easy to reset and change measurement modes. Overall this little thing was a great purchase and is already saving me money on electricity.

I bought this to monitor the energy use/duty cycle of a small space heater I use for supplemental heat. It seems to work fine and the wattage draw appears consistent with what I'd expect to see. I like that, with a little bit of fiddling, you can put in your current, local kwh cost and have it do the math for you automatically so you can see total cost over time. You don't really need that, but it is convenient. What don't I like? That the display isn't backlit. There is a small blue light that turns on when power is running through it, but you will need to supply enough light to read it, which turns out to be somewhat inconvenient given that most outlets are not exactly at eye level. If I were improving this product I'd make the display bigger, add a backlight that could be turned off, and angle the display slightly so when it is plugged into a normal outlet it is easier to see when looked down on from above. But overall, it seems fine, and I'm not unhappy I bought it over the much more expensive name brand one we've all heard of.

Nice, solid, quality product. Checks to see how much power a product uses, if it drains power while off, etc. Cool tool.

I bought the Ketotek meter and a similar-price Suraielec meter to compare them. The Ketotek is easy to use, and has nice-sized buttons for switching between modes. All the functions worked as advertised. I did not test for accuracy against a known reference, but the voltage was 120 +- 0.2 as expected. All other measurements looked reasonable for our toaster over. I especially liked how easy it is to reset the cumulative kWh and time data. The back-lighting makes the data very easy to read. The bak-lighting stays on longer than necessary, but does eventually turn off automatically. It comes on again when the user pushes one of the display buttons. The Suraielec has smaller buttons, and is difficult to reset. (You have to stick a paper clip into a small hole to reset the cumulative kWh data.) The Suraielec back-light turns off after about 20 sec. Push any button to turn it on again. Note: after my original review (now edited), I found that the Ketotek back-lighting turns off automatically after several minutes. Hence I raised my rating from 4-star to 5.

Works perfectly. It is exactly as described! Delivered on time and is now in use.

Edit: the company sent me a replacement unit and everything works beautifully. I have adjusted my rating to reflect the company's efforts to rectify the issue and I appreciate their customer service. My initial issue is still below but it has indeed been corrected and is no longer an issue. The + button does not work which is the button that shows the watts draw, the main reason I purchased the unit. This also prevents me from setting the costs and any of the limit alarms.
