What ages is this bed intended for? I have a 5 and 8 year old and would want them to use it for 2-3 more years if I am going to buy and assemble it.

Yes it would fit them just fine. I believe it has a 300 lb capacity and fits a full length twin mattress.

Will a 6” twin mattress fit on the trundle bed?

I can add you have 6.5 inches for height / thickness 75 inches length and 38 inches in width. Don’t not go over it these measures, it would not fit.

What is the distance between the bottom rail and the bottom of the slide?

It is approx 52.5 inches from the edge of the bottom bed to the end of the slide. I hope this helps!
