Yes, it would work if you installed the ceiling hook instead of the sticky tape.

does this work with a king?

I wouldn’t think so. It works for a twin or a full size bed, but I doubt it would look good for a queen, or a king. There seems to be one entrance and the rest of the curtain wraps around the bed. While it is awfully cute, you need to be careful not to pull it too much because the top round portion isn’t made for lots of wear and motion.

Is it machine washable?

Of course, the top steel ring can be disassembled, and the steel ring is movable and can be pulled out. After machine washing, it cannot be hot ironed. I hope it can help you.
