Great value for the price.
I didn't expect much out of this pack. I was looking for a cheap, comfortable 40L pack to take as my only bag on a 2-week trip to the Middle East. The pack more than exceeded my expectations. It's comfortable, easy to carry, and has lots of pockets for small goods. If packed correctly it sits up without tipping over, and it fits in most overhead bins. I work 48 hours a week as a paramedic, and I've started using this as my work bag. It's also been on several trips with me since I went to the Middle East, and it's held together well. There aren't any signs of wear or tear on the bag yet. It fits everything I need for a 2-week trip if I pack light and have access to sinks to wash socks and underoos. I plan on using it until it falls to pieces (and then I'll probably buy another one). FIVE-YEAR UPDATE: I took a break from traveling during COVID, of course, but since my last update this backpack has been to Mexico, Canada, and is now on a two-week European trip. I don’t do much backpacking anymore but it’s still a perfect bag for me for two weeks of travel. It’s finally starting to show wear and the zippers are starting to get a little sticky, but I’m planning to do some TLC once I get back home. We’re going to order a second one for my partner.

i needed a backpack with a good volume with a waist belt
i needed a backpack with a good volume with a waist belt. I do not have a vehicle yet so i have to hoof it wherever i go, I use it mostly for food shopping, Frys is about a total 1/3 mile walk then Albertersons is a 5 mile round trip. I have spine issues that with my day pack puts too much load on my spine leaving me in pain, my average load is 30 to 45 lbs, this pack transfers most of the weight to my hips and not my back so much. Being southern Arizona has hot days the cooling design on the back works great, my day pack was like a sauna affect, my back was soaking wet. In short this is a great pack with ample space for my groceries along with front pockets to sort the goods. As for a hiking pack that you would load with clothing, camping gear, sleeping bag there are straps on the top sides and bottom to handle what you need. The zippered access to get gear out of the bottom of the pack is a great idea. One missing point is no hole for a water bladder but there are two side pouches for water bottles. i have had many packs over the years,, for the money this is a great pack. The rain cover is a plus.

A Good Pack BUT >>>
Due to COVID all the camping is still not allowed here in California, so I've been having to settle my wanderlust in me by doing very long hikes. For the past three days, I have taken this pack with me on my hikes. One day was easy hiking and the next two were long moderate to strenuous hikes. Here is what I found out >>> The Pros: The pack is lightweight, which is a great thing for any backpack. The comfortability of this pack is superior! I am not a tall guy (5'9") and was able to get the pull cords to fit my frame perfectly. The padding for your back is also top-notch stuff. It isn't that cheap material that I've often experienced in other backpacks. I also found that this pack has plenty of hook areas if you need to add an attachment using a carabiner or pull cord. There is also plenty of room inside the pack. I was able to stuff quite a bit of items in there and still had room left over. There is also multiple zipper compartments that offer great room. Sidenote: There is what they call a hidden compartment area for valuables, which is cool. But probably should have put a zipper in that area. All the other zippers have worked great with no struggling or snag. You can tell they are well made also. The Cons (at least for me): I purchased a pretty expensive 32oz steel water bottle. It fit easily inside the side mesh pocket holder. The problem, the side mesh is wide but not tall, making my water bottle top-heavy. Before my first hike, I loaded up putting the water bottle in the side pocket and placed my pack on. Ultimately the steel water bottle flew out of the pack and actually put a damn ding in my wood floor :-(. And as seen in pics my bottle isn't tall enough to reach the straps that are made. So I did raise it up but the water bottle was too heavy and would fall back out of the strap. On the top of the pack my 32oz water bottle was now too big for these straps as the straps were far too short and couldn't extend any further. See pic. I was bummed. I ended up using my 17oz out bottle (see pic) but be mindful. This thing also fell out because now it was too skinny. Ughhh. I ended up having to stuff my 32oz in my pack. Another small issue is the pack having zero waste pockets. See pics. Even some of my far more cheaper packs had small pockets located in this area. So anytime you need anything small i.e., chapstick, candy, etc. you must literally take off your entire pack. Not always the best thing to do when your on a single track and have folks behind you. Overall: I really do like this pack. I could easily take off multiple stars for the aforementioned things(because there are many) but I chose to only take off one star. Why? OVERALL IT IS A TOP-NOTCH pack that offers superior comfortability and plenty of storage space and has enough clips for attachment items if needed. Therefore, I have no problem recommending it, but just be mindful that you may need to make some adjustments to it. For instance, to solve the water bottle issue, I ended up purchasing several Vapur Eclipse collapsable water bottles and will end up just clipping them on. I hope this info can help someone. Happy hiking and Happy Trails! :-)

Perfect Balance of Comfort, Capacity, and Price
Perfect Balance of Comfort, Capacity, and Price I’ve owned and used several hiking daypacks over the years, and the Mountaintop 40L really hits a sweet spot for practicality and comfort. It’s lightweight but surprisingly spacious — easily fits enough for a 2–3 day trip or even as a carry-on for flights. The layout is well thought out, with plenty of compartments for organized packing. I like that it has a separate bottom zipper for quick access to the main compartment, plus loops for trekking poles and straps for sleeping bags or mats. The padding and ventilation on the back are impressive for this price range. Even after several hours of hiking in warm weather, my back didn’t feel overheated. The shoulder straps and waist belt distribute weight well and keep the pack stable — no sore spots or digging. The polyester material feels durable and slightly water repellent, enough to handle drizzle or damp ground. There are some minor tradeoffs: the side pockets could be taller to better secure large water bottles, and while there’s a sleeve for a hydration bladder, there’s no included bladder or built-in rain cover (some models have it, so check carefully). Still, for under $60, this feels like a solid, well-built pack that punches above its price point. I’ve used it for day hikes, short camping trips, and even as a gym/work bag — the 40L capacity makes it incredibly versatile. It fits a 15-inch laptop, extra layers, shoes, food, and still has room to spare. Bottom line: A great all-purpose hiking pack for the price — roomy, comfortable, and durable enough for weekend trips or daily use without breaking the bank.

I use it for commute and I love it!
5 stars because it is a very nice backpack. So far, I have used it several times a week stuffed with school materials (binder and a couple folders) in the slim pocket inside the main bag, clothing and small food containers (shoes, pants, several shirts and a sweater) in front of the slim pocket inside the backpack, and writing materials in the top outside pouch ( several pens, markers, and notepads). On top of that, I carry a 40oz water bottle inside the backpack because the netted pouches on the sides are not big enough to fit it but, any standard size bottle or can will easily fit on either side. I usually fill them with my wallet and phone or fruits. I also clip on my bike lock on the straps on the top outside pouch so overall, it gets pretty heavy but, it feels well fitted on my back and chest. The straps that allow me to wrap it around my chest and belly really help maintain the backpack in place when I commute. I picked up this backpack because I commute riding my bicycle. I have had this backpack for about a month now, and I really do love it. I wish it had a bit more tiny pockets so I could have my pens and markers organized instead of just all bundled together in a big pouch but, this backpack is not made for that purpose. I understand that hence, 5 stars. So far, seems really sturdy and well made. It also came with a different message on the patch. I read reviews about how some backpacks came with a nonsense message on them. This one didn't! Hope this review helps!

Great quality but NOT for overnight backpacking
I purchased this based on the reviews and I can confidently state that the bag is made with great quality. I've been using this to day-hike the entire state of Massachusetts on the Appalachian Trail. I noticed some shoulder/neck pain, but thought it was just me. These past 3 days, I had the goal of finishing the southern part of the state while camping on the trail (for my first time ever!) for 3 nights. I loaded up my backpack with non-professional sleeping bag and tent (so they weighed more) and food for 3 days. I had to cut my trip a day short because of the extreme pain and soreness in my neck and shoulders. I learned from a through-hiker that all the weight should rest on the waist, NOT on the shoulders. Since this backpack is short, the "waist strap" actually goes across my sternum (between stomach and chest). So, the only way to reduce the weight from my shoulders was to tighten the strap so tight (the clamps are VERY strong, by the way) across my chest that I made the choice to restrict my breathing rather than feel the pain in my shoulders. This backpack will work great if you do not plan on carrying anything beyond 10-15 pounds for any length of time. But my shoulders even started hurting on 3-hour 7-mile hikes in which I carried nothing but 4-5 small water bottles. BOTTOM LINE: If you plan on carrying anything of weight for longer than a few hours, get a longer backpack where the straps support the backpack weight on the hips. This is an absolute necessity. Do NOT get this backpack for long trips and definitely not for overnight backpacking. (I should note that this was written by the account holder's husband since she purchased this for me as a gift.)

Great bag for mountain hikes
I took this on a hiking trip through Yellowstone national park and have no complaints. This bag is a great choice if going hiking for a day and want to carry stuff for a couple people. Or if camping, I was able to hold a solid amount of gear with room to spare. There are plenty of pockets and the strap system is my favorite part allowing me to carry a bunch of different stuff. The price makes it a great value for the money and depending on how you pack it, can be very lightweight, the waist and chest straps made the bag pretty comfortable while hiking as well, would definitely recommend this product!

Great all around
Nice pack for a tree days. I looked at a different brand and I thought it was lacking the same features as this one. It seems to be I bit larger than my old pack. It’s well made, good zippers & straps, nicely padded shoulder straps. It’s a safe purchase if you’re looking for something like this.

Terrible. El material es de mala calidad. Las correas son insuficientes y no pueden sujetar una sleeping bag o una tienda de campaña.
