Original DVD Drive Replacement Repair Part for Nintendo Wii with Opening Tool

It arrived fast, packaged well and worked as expected. Installation was slow only because I was fighting off a lapdog and cat while attempting! Only thing to note...mark where each screw comes out to put back correctly. Drive was a simple swap and works like expected. We have 2 Wii's. 1 stopped reading disc's, but I was worried about replacing the drive, so hubby bought a used Wii unit. He then decided he wanted a Wii in the bedroom, but did not want to pay over $100. So, I took a chance on this replacement drive. Took me about 25 minutes (because of critters trying to supervise my work) to take it apart, swap drives, put it back together and test. Very simple. If needed, youtube videos are a great help.

My Wii was giving me disc read errors and eventually became un-usable. This drive took a bit of effort to install (look for vids) But once done, The Wii works as good as new. So if your wii is having drive errors and you are a do it your self guy. Go for it. Better than tossing the wii out.

It works Great. I replaced the old drive in 30 minutes watching a YouTube tutorial. The only issue I had was when replacing the final cover with the power reset and eject buttons. The 3 buttons must be aligned with mini buttons. Best to connect and try the 3 buttons before screwing. The drive works like a new. Also my model number had none of the model letters listed. Ours is model no RVL-001. (Usa). And this drive was exactly the same, perfect match.

The drive replacement worked well. It was a moderately difficult replacement - but you definitely need custom tools beyond what they provide you since the screws are unique. Recommend buying this kit with more tools that are made to replace the wii drive.

Words cannot express how happy and relieved I feel after repairing my son’s Wii system with this replacement drive. He has autism and has played his Wii system nearly everyday for the last 20 years. When it inevitably failed, we looked for another online as we have done before but scarcity has driven up prices. For the price of a used system, I was able purchase three of these drives. I repaired his broken one, another broken one we hadn’t thrown away yet (thank goodness) and have a spare drive in case either ever fails again. If you are comfortable working with computer components, this is an easy job. Helpful hint: draw a 12 box grid on paper. As you disassemble, put each small screw/part on a square, and label the square with where it came from. It makes reassembly much easier.

Brought new life to my dead Wii

I received a dud and missed the return window. I’m ordering the ifixit disc drive now. Avoid abcGoodefg at costs, this was most likely defective. The screwdrivers that came with it were trash and almost stripped my screws. I had to use a separate kit. Also, the product description LITERALLY states it’s incompatible with GameCube games on the Wii. It’s not worth downgrading if it works for you.

Watched a you tube video to install, brought our old WII back to LIFE. So happy.

After our WII stopped reading our game disks, we thought that was it. It is one of the few game consoles that allows a group to play a game together without the need of internet access nor another console. After replacing the DVD drive with this product, the WII has a new life! This replacement drive worked very well!

I was able to easily fix a Nintendo Wii in just about 10 minutes. Biggest challenge was to open the Wii case with special screwdrivers but the replacement DVD was a perfect and easy fit.

Replacement optical drive for v3 Wii. Exact match, a few screws, wire connections needed not change or firmware update. Wii is now working again. Repaired disk not readable error.
