The secret to self-confidence is to know and understand the rules of social engagement before you're in the middle of an uncomfortable situation. Do you know how to: Pick the right fork? Shine at a networking event? Write a Thank you Note? Shake hands? RSVP to an invitation? Say no to a request for a favor?Use social media with clarity?Behave at a sporting event? Say the perfect thing at a funeral?Smoke a cigar in public? Etiquette isn't just something you need on formal occasions. It's a blueprint for how to behave every day, in every situation, to make interactions between people smooth and pleasant, with no ruffled feathers, misunderstandings or hurt feelings. It helps you smoothly transition from college to corporate life, and from professional obligations to personal ones. Etiquette doesn't exist to add a layer of extra rules to lifeโit's there to guide us to treat each other with kindness and consideration in our personal and professional lives.

Buy this for your teenager!!
I work with teenagers and young adults in private practice, and frequently am teaching social skills as part of our work together. Many of my clients have Asperger's or other social deficits, but even kids without such challenges frequently 'don't get' how to interact with the world to its best effect. This makes working with their teachers, their employers, and their friends difficult at best.I have searched for social skills books before, and never found anything that would appeal to them -- until this book. First off, it is clear, concise, and well-written. It is visually appealing and laid out well. Secondly, it is CURRENT -- dealing with social media, and the vagaries of our digital lives. It is also current in dealing with the 'differences' of the sexes. Who opens the door first? The man or the woman? Whoever gets to the door first, of course! (No duh!)Finally, it is filled with useful information and written in a style that is not condescending or stuffy. A five star in my book, and on my book list of 'must reads' for my clients!

Wish everyone one would read this book to remind them about proper etiquette!
i purchased this book as I've been put in situations lately that require better etiquette and I wanted to be sure I was doing everything properly. This book is a great reference guide not only for everyday etiquette (table manners, how to handle someone's divorce, death, etc.) but also new questions someone might have about proper etiquette when dealing with cell phone use, text messages, etc. It also gives good advice about interviewing and business etiquette. Easy to read chapters and information.

Great Graduation Gift
Recommended reading for everyone. A great primer for what to do in the daily situations that we all find ourselves in. Not only good for adults, a great gift idea (graduation is coming up!) for teenagers so they can learn proper etiquette and stand out from their peers in business and social situations.

Some helpful information
A rather basic look at etiquette in the digital age, but nothing too enlightening to share with the reader. Probably would be a nice gift for a new graduate - either high school or college.

This Book is very descriptive
Three years ago during the pandemic, I bought this book which is very descriptive of mannerisms and explains how you should address an email to your boss and what kind of utensils to use for each occasion. 10/10

Very nice book on everyday etiquette!
I really enjoyed reading this book. It covers all the basics of our day to day situations. It is simply written, with humor, and to the point. I do very much appreciate the conciseness (outline style) of this book since I hate wasting my time reading run ons. I especially enjoyed the author's personal touch of adding short little stories from her own life throughout the book. Happy with my purchase and highly recommend.

Contents
Practical little guide for etiquette in today's technology driven society, and advice on more traditional activities as well. It serves well as a quick reference guide, but should not replace a more classical work on etiquette.
