Yes. How ever its in Chinese. But it shows how to solve it with pictures.

YES. It comes with the Qiyi Mofangge Megaminx Tutorial with ENGLISH on one side and Chinese on the other. The English is refreshingly clear and the color illustrations are accurate but tiny. It’s the standard solution and the best printed guide I’ve seen for this puzzle.

how helpful are the ridges?

Very helpful. They improve your grip and make turns easier. The puzzle can become unmanageable if the surface is too smooth and with so many faces to turn, it’s easy to make accidental moves if your fingers don’t connect well with the corners. In this puzzle the ridges on the corner pieces are essential. Ridges on the edge pieces may be for uniformity or aesthetics as you probably won’t be manipulating the edges directly, but they also add to your overall grip on the puzzle as a whole. Unfortunately they also create extra traps for grime and germs, but no twisty puzzle is safe from that. Clean it often.
