Does the mask cover the back of your head?

No. There's an elastic strap. It's like putting on goggles.

What is the rectangle section below his nose for?

I'm guessing to help you breathe.

How exactly are you supposed to wear this? The eyes are so far apart...am I missing something? Is there a trick?

I put a rag in the nose area to give myself some space to see. Honestly, I wouldn't spend the money. All you get is the mask and a scarf.

Is the mask closed on the back?

The mask only covers the face, and has an adjustable strap on the back.
