Requires input of other sources to begin
This book is comprehensive and very good, but, be forewarned. For an absolute beginner who is self-teaching, it needs the input of others or an Internet search to understand some of the basics. For example: There is a "C" in the middle of every staff that eluded me. An Internet search revealed that the "C" stands for "common time" which translates to 4/4 time which is what I know. This is very basic but I didn't at first appreciate that the scales were moving down the neck. You might laugh, but a very brief explanation would put this straight: "All scales are present in different places on the fretboard. Here is the scale map for A major. Note the changes of frets as they appear in the diagram."

A Real Gem
I absolutely love this book. Like the reviewer above. I too have a compilation of scale books only to find the exact same scales in those books as the ones contained in this little book. I warm up with this book daily and I've come across some I never seen or heard of before and thats so much fun to practice to. One thing I do find deceptive is the repetitive collection of the so-called 400 scales, which are the exact same scales played at different frets and the book is filled to the brim with this fact. With that out of the way. This book is a real gem and it does the job which is what we want anyway.Good buy!

I like tips it gives.
This book is small, but actually has some decent content. Just like most scale books. You can take a little from each.
