Review: Great study guide for the SHRM-CP exam! - This was an outstanding book to read and study in preparation of the SHRM-CP exam. It covers everything - all of the topics you need to know for the exam. Especially critical are the appendixes and the glossary of terms, as well as the reference guide in the very back of the book. Mostly everything in the SHRM-CP exam are in this book. Read it, highlight it, and memorize the information as you will definitely be questioned on it! Pay special attention to the somewhat obscure passages as I was surprised how much of that was in the actual exam. This book, and the 1000 question book by Olamide Asekun, as well as the "SHRM-CP Exam SECRETS Study Guide", were the three things I used to sucessfully pass the SHRM-CP exam the first time! Good Luck and study hard! Review: Still Relevant - Don’t be intimidated by HRCI’s BOK page count. Half of the book is an appendix. It covers the four pillars of Human Resources: employment law, talent management, training and development, and total rewards: compensation and benefits. Whether you’re a student or industry professional seeking to brush up, I recommend pairing HRCI’s BoK in conjunction with World at Work’s Total Rewards Compensation and Benefits and The Best Practices Institute Talent Management. All books provide the necessary framework to tackle HR industry related challenges. World at Work explains the ins and outs of of engagement from a total rewards standpoint as well as the legal framework and BPI provides a historical context of what went wrong at other orgainzations surrounding talent management as well as what was done to correct it. I also read Kevin Sheridan’s Building a Magnetic Culture but felt some of the material surrounding generational work preferences was outdated. I did agree with one point though: Hire for attitude train for aptitude. We need people who enjoy their job and aren’t just “doing it for a pay check”. The material is still relevant. I just wish they’d update the body of knowlege in text format.

Said used, but is brand new!
Buying used is always a gamble. Many of us have bought the used book behind the person who highlighted everything with the blue highlighter lol. SANDRA red has other study tools for Aphr, Phr and Sphr, but this is required reading for understanding whatcyou need to gain from other study materials. The book arrived timely and factory wrapped. It was brand new. How suprised I was. I've printed my HRCI HRBok and place it in a great notebooks that matched the book. I also purchased the notebooks on Amazon. I'm now organized and ready to study to become a certified Human Resource Specialist.

Critical to passing the PHR Exam! Thank you!
This book had everything I needed to help study for the PHR. I used it with a few other resources, but getting the knowledge straight from the HRCI was extremely helpful. It's organized extremely well and intuitively. Don't skip the glossary! The definitions are very robust and help with recall and practical application. Best purchase I made in prep for my exam.

Stimulating
In my opinion Sandra Reed, in her way of explanation is absolutely considered as a 'piece of cake'. The foreword written by Dave certainly stimulate deep interests to further explore the contents of this book. I'm still cruising through this book and boy...oh boy....you should grab one. Absolutely loving every bit of it. This book is so detailed that every line, every word, every page and content is worth making notes. So informative and realistic to our current times of HR. Best reference material to guide and direct you to grasp your desired certification course through HRCI.
