It should, it is a simple device. Just be sure to match the input RCA jack to the tank's input connector and vice versa with the output. This unit replaces a defective tank unit.

is this considered to be a direct replacement for a peavey part # 2039398 reverb tank?

It will work in a peavey amp, but it is not a peavey part, I put this reverb in a small fender amp and it works great! This is a great reverb replacement for most amps!

on a Fender red is usually used for the input to the reverb tank- white (or unmarked) for the return
