KNOW what kind/color light you want!
Over the years I have figured out I prefer bulbs in the 2700-3000K range. I needed to replace the bulbs in a ceiling fan light that has this base, and 60w equivalent is the brightest i could find. Wanting to increase the amount of light from this particular light fixture, I decided to purchase the 4000K version to give brighter light. MISTAKE!!! 4000K is very artificial looking and industrial (to me) and I hate that in my home. It definitely brightens the room, but the cool bluish tone these bulbs give is just not something I want. So, I turned around and ordered the 2700K version, hoping they'll tone it all down (even if it does decrease the brightness a bit). I will never again purchase anything other than 2700-3000K bulbs again. Thebulbs themselves seem ok....the box they come in is quite flimsy and all the bulbs had fallen out of that box and were loose in the Amazon box. They were undamaged though, and all work. Not sure of the longevity.
