What is the difference between the red double and red or blue double and blue?

Comparing the photos on the item description, I believe that Red Double has wider stripes than the Red. Double wide.

are these something you would hang or can you sit them on a hard surface (and the balloon still "float"?)

To answer your question, neither. The "ropes" connecting the basket to the balloon are threads or strings. We used it as a centerpiece by using fishing line to hang it from the ceiling. It is nice enough to find a way to suspend the balloon. Maybe a thin Dannie piece of clothes hanger through the center. Dannie

Hello and thank you for your enquiry. The balloon is approximately the size of a tennis ball with a diameter 3 1/4 inches and including the basket it measures 5 inches deep. Hope this information helps.

Can the hot air balloon stand on it's own? Or does it need to be strung up to something? I ask because I want to use it as a table decoration

The ballon model does NOT stand on its own. There is a loop/hook on the top of the model where you can use a string to hang it. Hope this helps.
