Easy to use, holds well!
I looked for a long time to find something I could use and trust to display some Pottery Barn French inspired decorative plates. I read about this product in a decorating magazine and was able to find it on Amazon. I ordered them and they are wonderful. Very easy to use and they do a great job!

Best plate hanging option available
I saw these while browsing through a hardware store in England. I had been looking for a way to hang some large platters in our kitchen and thought these were a great idea. I found these on Amazon when I got home and ordered the largest size. The instructions are basic at best. I used a bit too much water on a couple of them and the glue got a little thin but it still worked after it was allowed to dry. I think the best way is to use a small bowl and just keep dipping your finger in the bowl and rubbing it into the glue until the full surface is tacky. Once everything was wet I was able to mold the disc to fit the back of the platters which had a few ridges. I also laid a small bag of rice on top of the disc while it set overnight to keep it down around the ridges. Everything came out great and the platters look fantastic on the wall (see pics). They hang nice and flat against the wall and you don't see any hooks. I think it's important to note to not pull the ring away from the plate, only pull parallel to the face of the plate. I think with proper application these will hold for a long time. *I used these with the OOK picture hangers ( OOK 50918 34 Piece Professional Picture Hanging Value Pieces Kit ) which I think are the best and simplest to install hangers on the market.

Read Me and prevent fail
First time user assigned to hang a 16" x 4" platter/bowel from Portugal on a tile wall above the stove. The plate is loved and will not survive any drop. Wasted time and money trying the generic metal holders that don't fit and detract from the display. After closely following the instructions I stuck it on and had issues with the edges lifting because the back of this plate is not flat but mildly spherical. With wet fingers I smoothed and pressed the disc all around for a couple minutes. This saturated the back and let it conform to the shape. I blotted all excess water and continued to smooth and press even after it stayed down. Took about 20 minutes total but I could have done several at the same time. Somewhat of a learned skill to install as to how much water to use and how long to wait before sticking (perhaps practice on something expendable). Sit down, don't rush it and babysit the adhesion for at least 45 minutes before leaving. Brilliant product!

A bad experience
I had such high hopes for this product but I was disappointed. To begin with I wanted to hang an Italian hand painted 15 inch plate that seems to be glass. I ordered the 5.5 inch hanger due to the size of the plate and its weight which proved to be about 3 pounds. I cleaned the back of the plate as instructed with dishwashing liquid and I allowed it to air dry for over an hour. I proceeded to moisten the 5.5 inch disc but I was concerned about how much water was too much when the instructions said to moisten with the fingers. So I moistened the backing using two fingers and lukewarm water. I moistened the back until I felt the entire surface felt like it was slurry. I noted the time and I waited exactly 7 minutes as directed by the instructions. Feeling the glue was tacky I mounted the dics to the back of my plate and squeezed it out in all directions. I immediately noted that the edges did not seem to adhere to the plate but kept pressing the disc down in all directions. I finally let the plate sit on the counter face down so the disc could dry for 24 hours. Next day the disc held the weight of the plate and I hung the plate on the wall over my stove. All was well until the next morning when I awoke and found the plate wedged between the wall and the stove with the disc still hanging from the nail on the wall. I examined the plate for damage and there was none, thankfully. The disc's surface showed that not all areas of its surface stilled contained glue. I have no idea why this has happened. I don't care either because I am not convinced that this is the correct prouduct as I had once believed. I will hang the plate again but this time I will use a wire device and be assured that I have a good physical grip on the plate.

Papier mache sort of works
I wanted to try this for one of those collectible alcohol-proof papier mache cocktail trays that used to be popular. It has a rim that makes it nearly impossible to hang with any "normal" method. I could have hammered a couple nails through it, but that seemed extreme. The back was peeling, so I cleaned it as well as I could, then followed the instructions and attached the disc. I did it before I went to bed so I wouldn't get impatient and keep tweaking to see if it was sticking. The next morning, it was half adhered, which was disappointing and hopeful at the same time. I smeared some white glue on the unstuck side of the disc and waited another day, then hung the tray on the wall. It's still hanging, weeks later, and looks great. I have several more of these cocktail trays so will be ordering more discs.
