Can this bag easily be folded and packed in to a carry on bag

Definitely. It's nylon and soft. I just got three more of these bags in different sizes. Love them. They are lightweight, carry a lot, and are waterproof. A cool thing is their waterproof, zip umbrella compartment on the bottom.

Are the handles long enough to comfortably wear this over a shoulder? Or does it come with a longer strap?

Straps are long enough to wear comfortably on your shoulder even with a jacket.

Is this too large for an everyday bag?

Yes, the large bag has so many pockets it's hard to remember where you put stuff

I'd like to be able to fold this very flat to pack in a suitcase, does it collapse easily?

I didn't keep this because the inside pockets didn't work for me but it's very flat and lightweight, it's be perfect to pack in a suitcase
