Is this ok to be used on a vehicle bike rack when driving long distances (around 5 hours)?

hi, that adapter is used to provide a top tube so that a bike can be transported on a trunk or hitch rack. one attaches to the seat post and the other end to the stem or handlebars. these adapters are often used on mountain bikes or cyclocross bikes or any bike without a true top tube. why? one wheel dangling much lower that the other may be subjected to heat from the muffler or tailpipe. a recipe for trouble. an absolute yes for short trips. for 5 hours, you will have to pay more attention to the contact points and secure the bike from moving around. ie, bouncing off the car or bumper. use some bungees or velcro straps to secure the bike and you should be fine. good luck.

I am looking for a way to secure a bicycle to a one inch diameter stainless pipe on a boat railing?

This makes a boys bicycle out of a girls. I use it to haul my wife’s bicycle on a carrier. Don’t think this is what you are looking for.

is it his supposed to fit loose on the womans bike frame?

It fits loosely with one end around the seat post and the other around the handlebar yoke. I have used it to transport two different women's bikes and didn't have any trouble with it.

What is the weight if the adapter itself?

the adpater itself weight approx 5-6 lbs
