I did not read the description very carefully. I thought I was getting blackout curtains. But instead, it’s a kit that you cut out the size of your window and includes stickers of velcro so that you can cover your window. I was amazed how well it works. It’s very thin and light and yet is very durable. It was easy to install and it would be perfect for anytime that you want to temporarily block out most of the light. I did not have any light shine through the material itself. The only light was from my lack of perfection in the cutting. I wish I had had this a few years ago when I worked at night. I was often sleeping during the day and light was a constant problem as well as heat. This would’ve been the perfect solution at that time. It only takes a couple of seconds to put it up (when you have it cut and velcro in their places) and not very long to take it down. I was concerned that the stickers for the velcro was going to create damage and leave residue. But I don’t think it would even on paint (but I did not test it either). I also cut out a piece for a window that is in my home office. Sometimes the sunrise is so bright even with blinds that it’s very disturbing. This will be a great solution for those mornings.

I work odd hours so for years I've been trying to find a way to make my room dark, most options are either more expensive, less effective, more permanent, etc. This has darkened the room more effectively than any of my more expensive blinds, its easy to take on and off and it's by far the cheapest system I ever used, even when compared to those temporary paper blinds. Wish i found this years ago!!

This was a quick and easy solution to darkening bedroom windows for my guests so they wouldn't wake up at 5 a.m. The kit includes a large piece of blackout material (black on one side and metallic silver on the other), a set of velcro tabs and strips (lots of them), a tape measure (very handy), and a drawstring bag for storage. There are no instructions, but all you do is measure the size of the windows, cut to fit, and place the velcro where you want it on the window frame and matching material. The material is some kind of synthetic and will not fray when cut. The whole thing goes behind the normal window shades, so the black material is covered when the shades are down. The silver does show on the outside, which looks a little weird but is a step up from tinfoil. My only objection is the apparent permanence of the fold lines from being folded in the packaging. I hoped they would flatten out after a week of hanging but they did not. And now everything is folded up and put away.

Using for our baby room over a year and still good! Blocks sun light very well. Curtain quality is very good too. Highly recommend for parents who are struggling their baby not sleeping well!

Very light and easy to install. And it does uts job well. Velcro allowing me to open them partially during the day if I want and I love that. (I works nights) great product that does its job well. And if I can install it anyone can.

These “shades” are one giant plastic tablecloth. One side is black, the other side is silver. They cut easily with scissors, Velcro seems good quality, and they block ALL the light. However, they look incredibly trashy from the outside. I did the first one with the silver side out but it looked so bad that I did the next one with the black side out. The plastic also smells terrible like rotten fish so I had to wash it first in the tub with dish soap. The smell was better but still lingered a bit. Definitely an effective, cheap option if you’re willing to sacrifice class while they’re up.

Wow. I underestimated the size of this product. My apartment has an odd feature, my exterior wall has 18 feet of windows. The total length is devided into 6, 2 of them slide for ventilation and 4 are picture windows. My unit faces due west, helpful during long cold Minnesota winters, terribly hot and bright from spring thaw to first snow. A couple years ago I blackout filmed the half in my bedroom, but left the living room natural. After 2 hot summers and having ac that can't keep up with the sun driving up the temp every afternoon. I've decided to try something somewhat temporary, that could help reflect off some of the direct sunlight. This was super easy to cut to size and apply. I used duct tape to fix this to thec2 picture windows and the supplied velcro straps to the ventilation window (this way I can see outside from time to time) the only other thing necessary and time consuming was cutting the strips lengthwise so they fit better. So far, so good. They dropped my indoor temp 10 degrees. Now it's dark and cool and comfortable

Blocks out the sun really well if you have all of the sides taped down but when it gets hot out the adhesive on the velcro starts to stop sticking so it always falls down. I found that magnets are better. Keeps my room cool and is easy to install.

Honestly worth my time searching, no odor, really blackout, no heating in summer. Good product!

Lo primero que note al instalarlo fue la disminución de la temperatura, no lo compré para eso, lo compre porque queria oscurecer la habitación pero me sorprendió la frescura que dá.

Llego bien y a tiempo el paquete. Lo unico que quiza podria mejorarse un poco del producto son los velcros pues se ven de una calidad un poco baja, pero si cumplen con su funcion.
