Kingston DataTraveler 101 Gen2 with urDrive 16 GB USB 2.0 (Black)

My first flash drive (thumb drive) was 1 GB and I thought that was wonderful... the idea that all that capacity could be carried on a little gadget in my pocket. Now this flash drive isn't much bigger than my first and can hold a whopping 16 GB. With that capacity it can be use to transport data when traveling, taking work home from the office, store extra sensitive files for security, and a whole host of other storage ideas; photographs, music, family documents, etc. After hurricane Katrina, I scanned all the important personal papers to this drive; birth certificates, school records, licenses, insurance papers, broker information, house deeds, IRS filings,and passports, and then left one in a safe deposit box to insure that if a catastrophy struck, I could easily reproduce the material. I also told my heirs about the storage drive so they would have easy access to items important for my estate.

I bought this because I was looking for something with a larger storage capacity than my other Kingston Data Traveler (4 gb) to carry personal files with me and still have room to transfer larger files from computer to computer. I was sold on the idea of having portable apps built into the flash-drive, however, I was disappointed to find that this would not work out of the box for me without a Microsoft dot net platform. I reformatted the drive to wipe all the pre-installed files off of it and installed free and open source "Portable Apps v1.6.1.0" [...] which solved the problem for me. The metal guard is a nice idea but could have been made better. The keychain loop is small, as others have noted, and if you put a smaller ring on it to attach it to your regular keyring or lanyard-- the guard will not swivel to a complete 180 degree position for plugging into your computer (it's skewed and looks awkward when plugged in this way, and if you have another USB port next to it can impede connection to that port). Besides that, when closed there is plenty of room for pocket fluff to get into the connection if you were to carry it in your pocket as I do. This could have been more carefully designed or omitted completely in lieu of a simple cap, in my personal opinion. That said, the drive itself is great and I really like the large storage capacity for the minimal pricetag. Kingston makes a reliable product and I wouldn't mind having a few of these, honestly. I would certainly buy again. I give it four out of five stars for the pre-installed apps being reliant on Microsoft dot net and the metal guard design. Flaws are easily fixed or lived with, though, so... thumbs up from me. Ultimately, I'm happy with my purchase. :)

I gave the other 16GB DataTraveler 4 stars because the cap comes off and there's no place to store it or clip it when this drive is in use. Well, this one is one piece, and since it reads and writes fast enough for me, it gets 5 stars. As usual, the Kingston drive did NOT let me down. It's become my favorite flash drive. All devices I have that use USB flash drives (car stereo, clock radio, etc.) recognize the Kingston drives. That is not true for two other brands that I have ... and wish I didn't. Some have complained that these drives are too slow. I don't understand that statement at all, and I don't understand how fast a drive has to be other than instantaneous. This one reads and writes quite fast, and I was able to load 200+ "albums" in less than 8 minutes. Photographs took quite a bit longer and my solution was to go get a cup of coffee. The truth is that this drive is as fast as my 60GB Western Digital, and if a jump drive ever gets to 60GB (and they will), and it's a Kingston, I'll buy it.

I store my digital pictures on flash drive. This unit doubled my capacity. I will keep it in my safe deposit box and transfer new pictures to it annually. It'll last a long time. I bought it because it was so highly rated. Only time will tell if it stands the test of time, but it worked just fine.

I got this on sale for $25, and it surprised me. Very fast drive, no drive cap (so i won't be losing it), very light and tons of capacity. Only cons for me is that it comes with some embedded software for media manipulation (no biggie, but i don't use it :P)

I've used Kingston flash drives to back up my computer files for for years and am about to order two more. They're dependable and easy to use. This one was a gift for a friend who dodn't know anything about the subject. I felt very comfortable ordering it for her.

Hay pocas marcas que me han dado buenos resultados, y entre ellas Kingston. Muy buen pendrive, de estilo flip off, lo que imposibilita que se pierda el dichoso capuchón que algunas memorias siguen trayendo. En cuanto a la velocidad de lectura y escritura, funciona perfectamente y con buenas velocidades en ambos casos. Donde flaquea es al intentar grabar un programa o similar desde la TV, la tasa de transferencia es ínfima y se queda pillado, pero claro, NO ESTÁ diseñado para estás tareas. Si esa es tu meta, no te lo recomiendo, ya que no está diseñado para ello, si en cambio lo deseas para un uso normal de almacenamiento, es excelente y sin comparación por el dinero que cuesta. Recomendado

Mit dem Stick bin ich sehr zufrieden. Die Geschwindigkeit ist für mich auch in Ordnung. Gute Verarbeitungsqualität und Ausführung. Wie lange das "Innenleben" halten wird kann man bei den Dingern sowieso nicht vorausahnen. Der Verschlußbügel gefällt mir auch sehr gut und praktisch (kann man nicht verlieren). Der Rezension meines Vorschreibers "Klinke" kann ich mich nicht anschließen. Beispiel: Habe auf diesen Stick eine komplette Staffel der Serie "24" in MPEG4 aufgespielt um bei einen bald anstehenden längeren Krankenhausaufenthalt etwas Zerstreuung zu haben. Die Staffel von "avi" in "mpeg4" konvertiert, gerippt um alle Folgen auf den Stick zu bringen. Gesamtvolumen war 14,2 GB Kopierzeit: 22min und ein paar Sekunden = anderthalb Minuten pro GB. Ich denke das ist sehr gute Kopierzeit (USB 2,0), da kann man nicht meckern - vor allem wenn man den Preis auch dabei berücksichtigt. Daher auch von mir volle Punktezahl. Ich habe mir noch 3 Stk. bestellt - der Preis ist ein Hammer !!! Evtl. noch erwähnenswert: LIEFERZEIT ca. 8-10 Tage !! Den Artikel habe ich bei "Zombits" bestellt - die Firma liefert von den Jersey Channel Islands aus. Steht auch in den Bedingungen dort .... allerdings ein bisschen versteckt. Ich möchte jedoch trotzdem keinen Punkteabzug geben da ich dies vorher gelesen hatte und mit dem Produkt eigentlich nichts zu tun hat.

J'ai réceptionné récemment cette clé Data Traveler 101 G2 (en 8 Go) ainsi que la même en rouge (4 Go) et toutes deux sont très belles. Mieux en réel qu'en photo et elles sont petites (ressemblent aux Platinium mais sont moins encombrantes). Je les ai testées avec un fichier de 697 Mo : - en lecture, elles se valent : 16,80 Mo/sec pour la 16 Go et 16,10 Mo/sec pour la 8 Go. - en écriture, c'est fort différent : 11,06 Mo/sec pour la 16 Go (noire) et 6,70 Mo/sec pour la 8 Go (rouge). Bizarre cet écart même si j'ai d'autres clés vraiment plus lentes encore (Lexar, Sandisk, etc.) Je recommande donc vivement cette clé DT 101 G2 en 16 Go, c'est vraiment la plus rapide... alors que la plus lente est la Kington Data Traveler G3 "génération 3" (blanche et jaune et dont le bouchon ne tient pas sur l'arrière de la clé). Maintenant, toutes les Kingston sont livrées avec le logiciel UrDrive dont on peut se passer. Le problème est que celui-ci prend 80 Mo et c'est beaucoup. Pour ma part, je ne l'ai pas "jeté" mais déplacé dans un nouveau dossier sur mon ordi. Si vous voulez faire pareil, attention, en plus des 3 petits fichiers visibles il y a un gros dossier caché (UrDrive) de 78,5 Mo : donc avant la manip. ne pas oublier d'afficher les dossiers cachés (Option des dossiers). Pour résumer, cette clé vaut vraiment le coup pour une douzaine d'euros.

キャップが本体と一体になっているので便利かと思います。 画像の金属部分は白っぽく見えますが実際は黒っぽい銀色で、質感も軽く安っぽい感じがしますが普通に使う分には簡単に壊れたりする事はないでしょう。 書き込み、読み込み速度はこれといって早いわけでもなく同じ値段でももっと速い物はいくらでもあるので機能性重視の方は止めたほうがいいかもしれません。 データの管理など日常生活で使うなら問題はないと思います。 最新版のXboxでもちゃんと認識しました。

The Kingston Data Traveler is a neat little gadget that works exactly as it is meant to. I own about five of these pen drives now or perhaps I should say the family does. They are useful for almost everything. I use them to carry work files and photos and my kids use them for school projects, photos, music etc - they are perfect for transferring information from PC to laptop and with a 16GB capacity you will rarely find yourself short of storage space. I even have a few that hold permanent data that I need for work. They are almost inconspicuous tucked into a work folder. I've been using Kingston for over a year now without any problems. I have yet to have a file corrupted or the data fail to read. I'm sure it will happen eventually but to date I'm very impressed with this product. So in short I have no negatives for this product - they are sturdy and reliable. Mine has taken any number of knocks and drops and is still going strong. The next time I need a pen drive, I won't be looking beyond the Kingston Data Traveler.
