Berserk (2016): The Complete Series

A very enjoyable series and the animation and the CGI are not nearly as bad as the fanboys would like you to believe! Still years ahead of anything coming out of Disney and the rest, ignore the naysayers and give it a chance!

If you're here, you probably know about the controversy about it. Yes, the animation quality and CG assets are not the best. But that doesn't mean it isn't still the incredible story of BERSERK

It's awful.

If I had only seen the English dub version included on this set, I would have given it three or four stars, as the CGI-heavy animation style is a bit off-putting. However, having rewatched it in the original Japanese with subtitles, I can report that the occasional glitchy moments are a lot less annoying, as a lot of my attention is absorbed by reading the text. In fact, I'm growing rather fond of it! I paid £42 and change for my copy, and I see that the price has risen by over £10, so I am very happy with my purchase!

There's a lot of hate for the animation. I personally don't care for the CG look... It's completely fine and isn't nearly as distracting as I was told about. This series takes place right after The Golden Age arc and is full of all the nudity, violence, and gore that you'd expect. The sound of that giant sword ripping through demons is one of the coolest sounds I've ever heard.

Like the headline says, this is a perfectly fine way to watch Berserk. Idk why fans are so angry about the animation style, sure it can be a little distracting but that doesn’t warrant all the crazy insults they hurl. The animation may not be everyone’s cup of tea but that’s fine. It’s not that big of a deal. Anyways, I hosted a berserk viewing party and showed a few newbies what the series is about then let them read the manga and they had fun!
