Tastes just fine - doesn't require drinking water, etc afterwards. Encourage readers to google the positive impact of cod liver oil for the Vikings.

Visible improvements after a few weeks!
Add my name to the Carlson's CLO fan club! I started taking this lemon flavored CLO a few weeks ago, after reading a lot about cod liver oil on the Weston Price Foundation website. For those who are unfamiliar with Weston Price, he was a dentist who published a book in 1939 called "Nutrition and Physical Degeneration," in which he talked about the importance of vitamin D in a person's diet. High vitamin cod liver oil is something he specifically recommends as helpful to dental and physical health. I searched around for high vitamin cod liver oil that was fermented, but wasn't ready to make the commitment to buy it, because it is very expensive. I respect the folks who make it and sell it, but my budget wouldn't allow it. I am also kind of a wimp about stuff that tastes bad. I tried Carlson's instead, and I have to say that I have seen visible improvements in my health. I'm 31 and female, but have had problems with stiffness for a couple years now (especially in the morning, and in my back). Arthritis runs in my family, so I was starting to fear that it was slowly descending on me. Not to sound like someone selling snake oil, but since I started taking this CLO, the stiffness has eased up considerably, and I don't get as achy as I used to. I know that the EPA in this oil has anti-inflammatory properties, so I guess it comes from that. Another thing I have noticed is that my memory and ability to focus have improved, which comes from the DHA in the oil. I have found that I can concentrate better, and don't feel the sluggishness that sometimes would creep up on me at work. Lastly, I live in Chicago. I usually get the "winter blues," but can honestly say that I have not been feeling them yet, and it is halfway through December, which means it is dark when I get up and dark when I leave work. I highly recommend this oil. I have been telling my friends about it, and I bought some for my dad who has diabetes. It is possible that the fermented, high vitamin stuff is better (per the recommendation of the WPF), but this has helped me already and I wanted to share that with others who could benefit. PS--get the smaller bottle, because it needs to be used up within 3 months for optimal freshness. Buying a bulk size in this case is not a good idea unless you have a family that can use it up in 3 months. UPDATE--June 10, 2010--Curiosity got the best of me, and I did order the high vitamin fermented cod liver oil & butter oil online. I guess I suffer from grass-is-greener syndrome! :) I bought the cinnamon tingle gel of that brand, and it wasn't a turnoff taste-wise, but it wasn't something I would ever crave, either. However, a friend of mine tried it and thought it was gross. I didn't see any visible difference in my health between using that and Carlson's. But supposedly the vitamins are all-natural and undisturbed in the other brand, and Carlson's may have been subjected to high temps. I just wanted to include the update in case people were debating between Carlson's and the high vitamin variety. Carlson's definitely has the mildest, least offensive taste. But the other one isn't bad.

Seems of great quality but flavoring is too strong and would like an unflavored version.
Cod liver oil seems of great quality and no bad back tastes, however, the flavoring is too strong. Would prefer you offer an unflavored version. I won't know the long term effectiveness until I finish this bottle.

This stuff is great for you and Carlson is the best! Spendy but well worth it.

I hope I don't jinx it...
Carlson's CLO has been a great addition to my daily routine, I've been taken it for a month at the time of this review, and the results have been great so far. My main health concerns are pretty much just my tendency to get the cold and flu very often, often than normal I'll say, and also this pesky adult acne that although is minor, it keeps breaking up when least expected. As you can tell my problem is with inflammation, my body's natural defenses are pretty low, although I try to eat a balanced diet and exercise regularly, I'm not overweight and I don't smoke (and I drink only occasionally). The flavor of this oil (first question of people's mind) is fantastic, gone is that nasty aftertaste (I remember from when I was I child and mom used to make us drink it) of course you still are taking oil, the texture is there, but all you've got is hint of lemon in the taste, also is not too thick, it washes down your mouth pretty quick. Now the benefits so far have been surprisingly good, but I've got to tell you, I'm taking double shots, one in the morning before breakfast and one in the afternoons; so far, although I've been in contact with very sick friends (that flu is hitting everyone) I haven't caught anything; also since I work with computers, I'm usually at the keyboard all day and my wrists might start hurting from time to time, I haven't had any pain since the last few weeks; I also noticed that I'm sleeping better now. The most radical change so far has been my skin's reaction to the oil, since the very first week I started using it, I noticed my face calming down a lot, just a week before during Christmas week, I had some bad breakout; I notice since that I'm getting very little to no pimples (treat those with cream) and healing from spots and scars. Some of you might think this is too good to be true, but based on what I read, it has to do with the elevated amounts of vitamin A, E, D as well as the Omega-3s that pretty much all of them help the skin in some way; specially during the winter months when we get very little sun light and our vitamin D supplies are low, since vitamin D aids in healing and immunity. If there's a side effect to taking the oil, I can only think of one and that's the increased appetite I'm seen to be hungry all the time, have to be careful and try to continue eating healthy. On to start my second bottle, I highly recommend this to adults and specially to kids.

Excellent product!
I started taking a tablespoon of cod liver oil daily because it was recommended for dry eyes. Also, it’s loaded with Omega 3, Vitamin A and D. I’ve noticed that my dry eyes are noticeably better since I started taking it. I usually have a gritty “foreign object” sensation in my right eye, which is incredibly annoying. I used moisture drops three times daily, and it still wasn’t helping. After taking this cod liver oil for about a week, that sensation is almost completely disappeared, and I’m not even using moisture drops anymore. Although it’s expensive, it’s worth it because of how much it has helped. I was worried about what it would taste like based on some other reviews, but it has a mild, pleasant taste and doesn’t taste fishy at all to me. In fact, it hardly has any taste except for a hint of lemon. Carlson Cod Liver Oil is an excellent, high-quality brand that I would heartily recommend.
