Works great in China with iPhone.
Third time using this SIM crd. Works great for iPhone in China. Set up is quite easy just follow the instructions closely. The China telephone # is very handy especially using Alipay, calling Didi. train booking, or whenever they ask for a China telephone #. Just do not use the data to watch streaming video or movie. Switch to WiFi when you are at hotel. Better and more convenience compare in getting local SIM card in China.

A SIM card with an excellent combination of data, voice and text!
When I started looking for a sim card for my upcoming trip, I skipped the ones with lot of reviews and picked this one that had no review yet. Here is why: 1. I like the combination of data, voice and text. With the current quarantine requirement in place, having a large data plan will be very helpful from handling business tasks to surfing internet to kill time. Don't expect too much from the wifi at hotel as it will be shared by many customers in quarantine. 2. It came with very clear instructions of activation and use. Once I provided the information as instructed, I received the confirmation of activation by email in 24 hours. Yes, I was asked to provide a copy of passport. In China, it has been implemented for years for a user to have a phone number associated with real name/identity. Be aware before you buy and take it easy when you see this part of the instruction. 3. The seller also provides a web site to extend, or buy more data or voice time if needed. I consider this is a nice option for short-term users who may need the sim card/phone number for more than 30 days. 4. When I was still searching, I believe that I used their sim card for a trip back in 2019 after comparing the names of the sellers and the product descriptions. The name of the seller changed slightly (with a space added), and the product descriptions are presented in a similar way. I had positive experience back then, so I decided to give it a try even if it didn’t have any review yet. After I went through the activation, it turns out that I’m dealing with the same team. Overall, this is a perfect and reliable solution with great flexibility for people who are going to spend a short trip in China.

Used for Glocalme and added on VPN service
I got this sim for my Glocalme WiFi hotspot because Glocalme’s cloud sim packages are too expensive for a trip to China. It worked without any problems although you need to wait quite a while for the cell phone network to pick up on the hotspot. To avoid the long start up delay I just leave the hotspot on 24/7. My Astrill VPN didn’t work in China so although I had WiFi it really wasn’t that functional. I reached out to 3Gsolutions over email and they responded to me quickly and pointed me to their VPN service, 60 days for $24. The web activation was simple and I was able to pay using PayPal. Now connecting to my Glocalme hotspot and running VPN on my iPhone works seamlessly. Highly recommend their Sim and VPN for any foreigners traveling to China. One tip, download the VPN app “Outline App” before you come to China because the App Store won’t work over WiFi. I had to do data roaming on my phone to download the app while I was China and pay ATT roaming data at $2 per MB. The outline app is 7 MB so $14 Not cool but price to pay to not need to data roam for the rest of the trip.

Fantastic support - easy to use - follow the directions and be happy!
Update: January, 2026: I have just completed my second trip to China in two years and it could not have been as enjoyable without my China Unicom Sim Card. Like the last time (in 2024), setting up the card was easy, the support team responded quickly and effectively to my questions, and from the time my plane landed in Beijing I was able to use my translator apps and e-mail. Don't leave for China without it - and make sure to follow the directions to set it up before you start your trip! Review from 2024: This SIM has, by far, been the easiest part of my China Trip! My wife was so surprised when I messaged her before the plane arrived at the gate! I have used this now in 10 different cities here and on two high-speed train trips and it worked perfectly. The SIM worked so well that I purchased 3G Solutions VPN service after arrived. I highly recommend this SIM and company. Follow the directions to register your SIM before you leave for China. Enjoy!

Worked perfectly from arrival in China on
Update - this should now be a one star review, but Amazon didn't let me change it yesterday. Let's see what happens this time. I ordered another SIM card, packed it up and brought it to China. When I opened the package it was empty - just a piece of plastic where the SIM card should be. Total ripoff, and the company did not respond to my emails. I had been advised that there was no way to buy a SIM card in the airport during quarantine. That was true. This SIM card worked perfectly, and I was able to use WeChat, MeiTuan, etc. and initiate calls right away. I also had a number to give to all my friends. It was easy to renew, and good value for money. The company is also helpful and responsive. Update: And the number has worked perfect again, now that I'm back in China - was outside the country from Jan to Jun 2023. The company was very helpful in enabling me to pause and then restart the service. This really has been the easiest China SIM card experience I've had in many years.

Great and Terribke
I'm updating my review after a second trip to China. I have a love/hate relationship to this card/company. Once you get it working it's fantastic. But I have never been able to get it to work right away. And that's a major stressor because if it doesn't work at the airport, you will have no money and no transportation and no way to contact the company. If the airport information desk has a nice person they will call the company for you and get it working, but if not, you have to rely on the kindness of strangers. Even a stranger, on this trip, could not get an answer from the company when our delayed flight touched down at 11 pm. He was nice enough to take me in his taxi to my hotel, where I did get it working. I acknowledge that part of the problem was my phone, which I had set on "private DNS server" and that was creating a problem. If I could ever get this card working on my own at the airport,I would give it five stars. Previous review: This card worked fine for me during three weeks in China, but there were some confusing aspects about it for me because there are different functions it handles (Internet access, texts, calls, email) and so different reload options and setup requirements (for email, since Google doesn't work). In the end I got by fine without a VPN but they offer that too. (I used Baidu Translate and Amap/GaoDe.) But I can read characters -- somewhat. I sorely missed Google Translate because Chinese displays are so tiny and full of ads, though. Customer service got back to me quickly about everything. Card didn't boot up smoothly at the airport but I may have forgotten to turn off my phone when I switched cards. Anyway, someone at the airport helped me get online and away I went. Probably worth it to set up an account when you buy the card so you can keep track of your usage.

If could, I would like to give 8 stars over 5
I have one-week long trip to Beijing China about June,30th, 2024. Before it, I already make the purchased the chinese local sim card with the regular chinese phone number from 3G solution. Their customer service is wonderful and so much helpful. Here is the reason. At first, at the activation process before flying to Beijing, their customer service really reply within 24 hours range. Their local staffs at china mainland has the same strategy. During the first week I have the vacation (with purpose resting and visit some sightseeing), not meet any problem with their mobile service. (call+text sms+text sms with image, mobile internet). I supposed to fly back NYS on July 6th,2024. However, the airline at Beijing capital airport DECLINED me because they did not trust on my travel document is real and legally. -> no choice but I had to cancel the flight. I feel sorry for people who are on that airplane because it is delay 30 minutes long since I was the reason. I called and cancelled from the third-party so they did not update fast enough for the local airline at Beijing Capital Airport about my declination for boarding. Thus, I had to stay extra 2 weeks long at Beijing for US embassy verify my legal document to travel back to USA. During the time, my chinese phone number with 3G solution still work well as it should be. You should AWARE that the amount of mobile internet data gig counts DIFFERENTLY. I stay at Beijing about 3 weeks long but my local mobile internet data usage is up to 20 Gig data. it means I add on the extra service from 3G solution. -> I use my chinese phone number -> contact their customer service directly at Beijing time. -> Their staff responses fast enough since it is directly call inside China mainland. The staff listens to my situation-> they ask another staff to send me the email with the link for adding service. Next, aigoo~ I need their help again. My Express VPN get blocked after 2 weeks bypass. this is unexpected following the declination of boarding from the airline. -> I remember 3G solutions also has the VPN service on their description. This time, I send message through WEIXIN of 3G solution. Another staff responses under 12 hours long. They have the solution for my UNEXPECTED situation. -> during the conversation inside Weixin, the staff guides me how to install OFFLINE their VPN service by some links. Their instruction is clear enough to follow. Their VPN service approaches in different technology with Express VPN and NordVPN-> 3G solution company creates their own VPN server by PROXY. It can install OFFLINE through devices operation (android, iOS, Mac,etc.). If you prefer to use the app-> connect to the local hotel wifi-> find the associated app named Outline from chinese Apple App store. (just beware to choose the correct app since it has more than one when you switch your Apple account to Chinese mainland location). (don't expect Google app store available when your VPN service is down. Galaxy app is not better status.) I also rent the portable wifi unit from 3G solution for 7 days long. They ship with local delivery courier directly to my temporary place at Beijing. When you open the parcel, just remember to KEEP the Returning-shipping bag with their shipping label. They also have the option rent and returning at airport. Thus, I am back online with 3G solution VPN service-> exchange email with USCIS and US embassy at Beijing-> print out doc application and supporting doc -> ride Didi to US embassy for the boarding foil. If you are curious about the price, it is varied based on which service you add-on. I remember it cost $10 USD for adding on extra 10G mobile internet data. They also refund my renting-deposit through Paypal after they receive back the portable wifi unit. Thank to 3G solution services, I am able to fly back to my house at USA! next year, I might not visit Beijing again but maybe 2 more years from now, I would like visit another city in China mainland for climbing mountain purpose. I definitely continue to use the services from 3G solution when that time comes.

Works in China but not for Google pixel
I bought two sim cards and installed on an iPhone 11 and a pixel 8 for use in China from March 13 to April 7, 2025. One sim had a label saying that it must be activated by a date that's already passed. I emailed the seller who said that it will still work and to disregard. It did work, a long with the VPN I bought from the seller. There were issues. One phone number was associated with an account that has a outstanding payment due so initially I wasn't able to order Didi or fod delivery. I emailed the seller and they immediately paid off the debt so I was able to use those functions, although I continued to get robo calls and texts for the outstanding balance. The other number initially worked on the first couple of days, then the phone and text functions stopped working (data continued to work.). I notified the seller and they said that it was a common issue with pixel phones. They offered me $5 credit and immediately send me the money by WeChat. I like that it works and how responsive the seller was, but took off a star for these issues. I used their VPN on the iPhone and another VPN (mullvad) on the Google phone. Both VPN worked fine.

Ojo

Recycled SIM card- do not buy
This is a scam- the SIM card I bought was still in another person’s name , as a result I was not able to connect to my Alipay and WeChat, thus was without money for 3 days in a foreign country!I went to China Unicom to make inquiries and was told that 3 G bought the recycled SIM card in bulk ( thus still have previous person detail), thus I couldn’t connect my Alipay . They said I have been scammed!

Excelente Servicio
Muchas Gracias.
