Will this work well on a matted persian cat?

You gotta cut off some long hair though.. it works great but when it's too long , you have to trim some before you just use clippers and I think it doesn't matter which clipper you use when your cat's hair is too long. Gotta trim it before you use it !

Does it work for a cat with a thick, thick, high density fur, very low length for a lions cut?

My Persian had a lot of mats & it worked very well on him - he looks adorable with his lion-cut { he is a happier cat too!}.Just this AM I gave him a trim up that was fun & effortless. I love this handy tool!

My ragdoll is pretty matted - are there instructions on how to deal with this? I've never done this before.
