silly question but is spun the same as woven? I know I need to get woven and not paper filter.... the spun polypropelene is throwing me

spun is smooth outside, woven is like a continues string, pleat is paper with wire over sometimes, but not always. the 5005is good all around for most use, carbon or black is for strong smell, woven for sediment sand or fine silt. hope it helps somegene

I notice this filter does not have seals on the two ends to prevent unfiltered water bypassing. Do you have to add seals when installing?

The filter element fits into the filter body and there is a circular raised area about 3/4" high in the bottom. After you clean any sediment out of the bottom of the filter, place one end of the filter element over this. Very important, lubricate the "O" with Vaseline, seat it in the groove at the top of the filter body, screw together with the wrench (sold by Amazon), turn on the water and check for leaks.
