The people of Ansalon have rebuilt their lives, their houses, their families. The Companions of the Lance, too, have returned to their homes, raising children and putting the days of their heroic deeds behind them. But peace on Krynn comes at a price. The forces of darkness are ever vigilant, searching for ways to erode the balance of power and take control. When subtle changes begin to permeate the fragile peace, new lives are drawn into the web of fate woven around all the races. The time has come to pass the sword -- or the staff -- to the children of the Lance. They are the Second Generation. Review: Great Book! - Good read in the series! Review: ... about this book because one of the stories was terrific, one was really good and the rest merely ... - I have mixed feelings about this book because one of the stories was terrific, one was really good and the rest merely okay. I'd read several of them before in different volumes, so it was nice to get them compiled in one book as the next generation of "heroes." My favorite story of the bunch is the tale of Caramon's sons in "Wanna Bet?" It was a story told very much like the original Dragonlance tales, with loads of action, fascinating characters and lots of humor all the way around. I also enjoyed The Legacy because I'm a huge Raistlin fan, but this left me wanting more, as usual. Altogether, this collection was worth reading, but I hesitate to recommend desertcart's Kindle edition. It is the most poorly edited Kindle book I've ever purchased from desertcart. However it was scanned into the system, it's riddled with spelling errors and words pushed together or it created words that don't make any sense. Several of the chapter titles are so obviously wrong because it scanned a "G" as a "B" even though the correct word is in the first line of the chapter. It's a very poorly made Kindle file, and I would have much preferred to read a paperback edition. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | #1,064,924 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) #1,505 in Sword & Sorcery Fantasy (Books) #2,272 in Epic Fantasy (Books) #12,149 in Action & Adventure Fantasy (Books) | | Customer Reviews | 4.4 out of 5 stars 836 Reviews | ## Images ![The Second Generation - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/615VaIf8wXL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Book! *by R***K on December 3, 2024* Good read in the series! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ... about this book because one of the stories was terrific, one was really good and the rest merely ... *by T***A on August 20, 2014* I have mixed feelings about this book because one of the stories was terrific, one was really good and the rest merely okay. It has been twenty five years since the Dark Queen was defeat and the surviving heroes have children of their own who are now involved in new adventures with some of the old heroes getting back into action. Very good stories and I look forward to the next book and continue new adventures. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://virgin.desertcart.com/products/36045548-the-second-generation](https://virgin.desertcart.com/products/36045548-the-second-generation) --- *Product available on Desertcart British Virgin Islands* *Store origin: VG* *Last updated: 2026-10-13*
