Works as described. However, I did need to hang my clothing in the garage for the smell to dissipate. Definitely cleans and waterproofs.

This stuff works great, but it is entirely too expensive. Follow the directions except for this hint: SPREAD IT OUT MORE... They make it seem like you have to add a lot of this stuff for no more than 6 garments at a time. No! I use half the directed amount and throw in double the garments and it works great. I use this in the field in the tropics and sub-tropics without any decline in efficacy. They want you to use more so you'll buy more. Great stuff, just a little deceiving.

Great for re-waterproofing your valuable performance clothing. I use all black , so I can’t say it darkens or not.

I purchased a second hand NorthFace jacket and wanted to ensure that it was cleaned appropriately. After researching cleaning solutions, I came across Nikwax and decided to give it a try. Simple instructions. Smells great! Water ran off the jacket once I ran it under water. Was amazed! Great buy!

I used this Nikwax duo-pack on one of my softshell jackets and was really happy with the results. Both the cleaner and waterproofing were super easy to use—just followed the instructions and ran everything through the washing machine. No hassle at all. After treating it, water just rolled right off my jacket like it was brand new. It made a noticeable difference. I’d definitely use this again and would recommend it to anyone looking to refresh their outdoor gear.

I don't know how well this works. I used it on some materials that were already water resistant, and it didn't seem to make any difference there. I also used the other one on my rain coat and rain pants to make sure they were ready for a trip, and I can't say that they weren't already waterproof before - so again, I'm not sure if it makes a difference.

I was on the fence about getting these, but ultimately decided to take the plunge. They're expensive (more on that later) but after following the instructions explicitly (including cleaning out all detergent residue first) I am VERY impressed. My three year old waterproof jacket was starting to be, well, not so waterproof. I didn't think there was anyway to fix this - it's just a normal part of ageing. WRONG! I used the tech wash first and washed both my new (<6 months old) and old waterproof jackets together (since it does up to two per load and I wanted to get my money's worth). I tested both jackets before and after washing by running them under a tap. The new one showed a slight bit of improvement but nothing big. The old one showed no improvement in water-wicking ability. The wash is just that though - it protects the waterproof coating, but doesn't claim to improve it. So I wasn't surprised with these results. After the wash, I used the softshell proof on my old jacket. I must say that if you use a front-load washer, make sure the soap tray is pushed in a bit - when putting the second capful of this liquid in my soap tray, some leaked out and ran down the front of the washer. This is because unlike regular detergent which is pretty viscous, this stuff is like milk. Regardless, I wiped the washer down (no stain damage from what I saw) and turned it on. Once the jacket had dried I noticed that it felt MUCH softer. Like silk. I ran it under a tap and it was better than my new one! I'm very impressed with this product as it saved my $60 jacket and made it like new. The proof liquid doesn't last long though - the bottle is only 300mL, and it required (as per instructions) 100mL PER GARMENT. So you can use this whole bottle in three loads. So you're basically paying $3 per jacket for waterproofing - not a lot when you look at it that way, but it's weird to use a $10 item twice and see it nearly empty. Definitely more expensive than regular detergent, but at the same time it does something that no other product can. I would definitely buy these again if I ran out and needed to re-waterproof.
