velcro does not last
unfortunately this was not robust enough for my son with ASD. we used for only a couple of weeks and the velcro no longer sticks anymore.I have returned the item, however still awaiting the refund!

Struggling with your child’s therapy sessions? Give this a try!
First, let’s talk about fit. I got the Large for my 7 year old nonverbal ASD daughter who is in the 95 percentile on the growth chart in hight and weight. In clothing size, she wears an XL or girls size 14. She definitely still has room to grow with this vest but serves its purpose! I have started out with compression only as recommended and will later add the weights as she gets used to wearing it or seems to be seeking more sensory input. Your OT would be the one to ask if this type of vest would benefit your child.Secondly, if you’ve been struggling with therapy sessions like us: aggressive behaviors, inattentive, crying, eloping. This might be worth a try! Since our girl started wearing this during therapy, we have seen her attention to an activity go from maybe a few minutes to 20 min! The deep pressure this vest offers may be what she was seeking and needed this to help her focus. It may not be the most fashionable, but I haven’t seen anything else that offers both compression and weight. I have seen some vests/hoodie type weighted garments without compression that may work too but my daughter definitely seeks the deep pressure input.

on the small side of size - quality ok
Vest was on the small side - did not offer a larger size - Grandson was not sure about it, but all children are different. Easy to put on and off once the size was set on each side - quality was ok for price.

Great for my Autism+ADHD 6year old
This has been great for my son with autism and ADHD. He is six years old, about 70 pounds, and very hyperactive. This helps to just calm his body down for two reasons:1. The weight: he can't move as rapidly as he would, so it forces him to slow down.2. The deep pressure. It is fantastic. I love this.
