Teacher recommended
Bought for my 4th grader in elementary school and he’s still using it 3 years later in middle school. He has been enjoying playing the drums.

Classic book for beginners
We bought this book for for a 10 year old boy just starting to learn to play percussion. This was also recommended by most of his teachers and is really beneficial for starters. Has basic sheet music to intermediate level and the kid can move up to the blue book once done with this book.

It is Book 1
At the time of writing this review, this product title reads Book 1 Standard of Excellence Comprehensive Band Method; but the first image is misleading because the image shows a blue book (which is Book 2). I trusted the Amazon title not the image. I ordered, and it is indeed the red book 1.

Lives up to expectation
Nice big size, clear print, easy to read. Has great pics of notes on each instrument.

Great first percussion lesson book
We buy all of our music books from Amazon as they are the same price as any store and they come right to our door. This book is what our elementary band teacher uses it and my child is enjoying it very much.

It's a great learning book for my nine-year-old
It's a great learning book for my nine-year-old. All aspects of reading music and hand placement, etc. are covered. Two page spread has left side for drums and right side for "bells". Easy to read and understand. I'm thinking about getting another...one for school & one for home.

Excellent purchase.
Excellent book! Exactly the same one my middle school aged child uses in music class. It's great for theory, relatively easy to understand, and to practice with.

A splendid progressive (in small steps) instruction manual which is clear, concise and geat value for money. Equally relevent for pop,.jazz or 'straight' drumming.
