Are these soft enough for an embroidery needle to go through? I plan to do bead embroidery on them.

Snakeskin would be soft enough but the pieces I got were so small they were worthless. I wouldn't recommend buying these scraps. If you want a good product buy just what you know you want and in the amount you will need. I was disappointed with my purchase and it was a waste of money. I hope this helps. If there is a leather shop anywhere near you I would go there in person and see what they have to offer and how much it would cost.

What is the weight or how many mm thick are the pieces? Can you use for making wallets and purses?

It was completely random in weight and sizes. A couple of the scraps were big enough to make a wallet but not a purse. Most pieces were smaller and odd shaped.

Would these work for the soles of baby shoes?

It's all soft leather. Random quality and size

are these pieces soft enough to sew on a machine with a regular needle?

Ya, I was surprised they are thick and very supple I'm sure you could sew thru them with a regular sawing machine!
