Accurate, compact and User-Friendly, a worthy upgrade
I’ve been using the SKS Germany Airchecker digital gauge and overall it’s a very solid and reliable tool. I had previously owned the 1.0 version, and this updated model maintains the same quality while feeling just as practical and well-built. One of its best features is how lightweight, compact, and easy it is to carry, perfect for keeping in a saddle bag or toolkit without adding bulk. Despite its small size, it feels sturdy and delivers consistent, accurate pressure readings for both Presta and Schrader valves. A particularly useful design detail is the rotating head, which allows you to adjust the display position for easy reading without having to twist your neck or reposition yourself awkwardly. This makes checking tire pressure much more convenient, especially in tight spaces or when working quickly. I’ve been using my Specialized floor pump with an analog gauge but could never fully trust its readings, so having a precise digital reference makes a big difference. The deflate button is especially practical and works great, as it allows you to release pressure immediately without needing to disconnect the gauge from the valve. Overall, it’s a dependable and user-friendly pressure gauge. If you’re looking for something portable, precise, and thoughtfully designed, this is definitely a worthwhile upgrade—even if you’ve used earlier versions before.

This is the one to buy.
This review is not so much a review of a pressure gauge, but a comparison of three different gauges that I purchased on Amazon. They are all fine products, but the reason that I purchased three different gauges is to find which gauge would be best for my intended use. I am an avid cyclist (on a road bike) and lately it seems that the tire pressure in your bicycle’s tires could have an impact on your cycling performance. That may seem like an obvious statement, but over the years it was considered that the tires should be pumped up to as high a pressure as the tires could reasonably take. The thought being that this hardness would provide the least rolling resistance. However, lab tests have shown this to be not true. The “ideal” pressure depends on several factors such as tire dimensions, weight of rider and bicycle, and road surface, etc. So, for me to get the “ideal” tire pressure for my situation I would need a decent pressure gauge to work on my tire’s Presta valve. I started by purchasing the JACO RDX-160. This is an extremely rugged appearing gauge. Maybe more suited for mountain bikes (or Jeeps?). I had issues while using this gauge. The pressure inlet (where the valve is inserted) is quite deep at 18.74 mm (0.74 inches). So, getting the valve in far enough to get a good reading was challenging. And using the bleeder valve on the gauge (to release some air from an over inflated tire) was really hit or miss. My next purchase was the Topeak SmartGauge D2X Digital Pressure Gauge. This gauge has some very good features, so I had high hopes. One feature is that it can be used with both Presta and Shrader valves just by flipping a small lever. Unfortunately, this dual-purpose inlet didn’t work all that well for Presta valves. It was difficult to get a good seal, prohibiting an accurate reading. My third purchase was for the SKS Germany Airchecker Digital Pressure Gauge. This gauge has a separate air inlet for Presta and Schrader. The digital display is clear. You can select pressure readings in BAR or PSI, and the bleeder valve is excellent. This is now my “go to” pressure gauge for accurately setting the tire pressure on my road bike. One caveat though…while this gauge was designed by SKS in Germany, the gauge itself is made in China.

Lightweight & Accurate
This pressure gauge is very compact and lightweight and seems pretty accurate when compared with my other gauges. I do like that it has the rotating head and bleed button. But the live mode bleed feature is a little awkward to use, even with two hands. When it is in live mode, you have to hold the gauge tightly against the valve in order to get a reading and once you take it off the valve it does not continue to display the last pressure measurement. When it's in standard mode it does keep the measurement visible for a few seconds. I also don't like how it loses a little bit of air when you are using the gauge. For example the Slime airlock gauge doesn't lose anything at all. Overall I think it's a good gauge because of the weight and size, plus the quick reading and different function options. However I rated it a generous four out of five stars because I think it's slightly overpriced and I think it could fit on a valve tighter to minimize air loss.

Small ACCURATE and easy to use.
I have several air pressure gauges, some cheap and some expensive but I’ve found price doesn’t guarantee accuracy. I have 4 to 5 go-to gauges that all read the same pressure to within 1psi so I know they are all reasonably accurate. I also have a pile of inaccurate gauges that reading vary wildly 2-10psi some costing way too much. This gauge now joins my pile of accurate go-to gauges and I like that it read to 0.1psi (although I can’t verify it’s that accurate to that level) but it’s nice to be able to repeat a pressure exactly. I purchased this gauge to travel on my motorcycle thinking the swivel head would work nicely between the spokes so I could read the gauge and apply it to the valve stem evenly and repeatedly, it’s nearly perfect! It remembers and displays the pressure even after you release it from the valve just in case you want to double check your work and it has a release valve to lower the pressure if the tire is overfilled which I rarely utilize. The only criticism I have is the gauge doesn’t turn itself ON when you press it to the valve stem, if it was OFF it stays off until you turn it on. So if it’s off, taking a reading is pointless. Just remember to turn it ON! So do I carry this gauge on the motorcycle? No.. I have a cheap accurate pencil gauge that I only paid $2 for that travels with me. It’s small, lightweight, durable, consistently accurate and tucks into my tank bag easily. I leave this new gauge at home in my go-to pile.. What’s my favorite most used gauge in my go-to pile? It’s my ACCU-RITE mechanical gauge with swivel head.. But.. this gauge is a close second.. Remember, you need a pile of go-to gauges to compare against otherwise you simply don’t know if you air gauges are accurate or not.. this gauge is no exception.

Perfect tire gauge for bicycles, so-so for cars.
This gauge works absolutely perfect. Read the manual and you will see you have to release air THEN remeasure. Only gauges i can think of that show you as you go down are analog/dial gauges. Plus its more accurate to get a reading twice. Works perfect on presta valves, just unscrew the valves push up firmly and you get a reading in 1sec. For schrader valves (car tire valves) its exactly the same just push against the valve and 1sec reading. Accuracy: I have a snapon dial gauge that i use for my car (schrader valve) only goes to 60psi so didnt bother buying adapters for the presta valve. My tire shows 31.5psi on the snapon gauge (twice the price as this one) my SKS air shows 32 and my other schrader digital gauge shows 32 so im going to say the .5psi accuracy is spot on. Only problem i found with this is using it on car tires its very small and has a short head to measure. Its made for bicycle use but can be used for cars as well just need more clearance. My other digital gauge is longer and made for cars so has a angled head. Overall 5 out of 5. Does what its supposed to do worth great for both presta and scrader valves without any issues. Gives you an accurate reading. The auto off works great i can easily measure both tires before it shuts off so plenty of times. Don't let other reviews keep you from buying it its perfect. I paid 20.44 3 days ago and as i write this review price changed to 19.83 go figure. UPDATE: So after reading reviews of people having problems either using it correctly or not knowing how to i decided to make a little how to video. Your gauge should work the same way if not you probably have either a defective product or need to try again. I should add that over time the rubber does break in a bit and make it a lot easier to get on and off the presta valve. The how to is for presta valves as the schrader part of the gauge is very easy to use. Update: Battery life seems to be very good. Granted i probably use this once a week my battery has still been going and is now in need of replacememnt. Still works its just dim. Its been 2 years so seems like its a very low drain device. Three year update: I see a lot of comments about bad readings and people being unable to use it. Ive owned it over 3years now, still works like the day i bought it. The rubber inside has worn a bit so its still easier to push on and pull off. Still gives an accurate reading. My front tire is at about 12psi and it read it fine. Its in fact far more accurate then my cheap floor pump that i bought. That gauge seems about 5psi off.

Easier than Spring Gauge, More Durable
I've had to toss many many low pressure mountain bike spring gauges in the trash when the mechanism fails for unknown reasons. I have rubber boots on them and keep them in sealed quart bags and they never leave my vehicle or storage. Somehow just using them or transporting them around is too much abuse or they are getting clogged with sealant so I bought a couple of these for testing. I think I'm done with accu gauges. This tool is lighter than a metal spring gauge, works with both shrader and presta, and comes in a nice padded cardboard case that is excellent for storing the tool in a gear bag if you've got the room. Much better than a 'rubber boot' on a spring gauge for protection. I only use them for presta, but it has been great as it measures to tenths of a lb and I think I believe the numbers for accuracy as well. Readings are repeatable and plenty precise for low pressure mountain bike tire adjustments. The digital readout is in my opinion easier to interpret than an analog gauge for a fixed reading. I like the audible sound the tool makes when the pressure has been read so I know when to remove it and look at the screen. Because the head swivels partially and because the screen doesn't need to be visible to take a pressure reading it is not at all awkward to get a reading. I always clear the valve of any potential sealant before using this tool and so far it has not clogged up. The screen illuminates which is also very helpful in low light situations. It is possible to get very precise air pressure by releasing with the tool if you need it but I've learned how many strokes of my pump I need (small pump moves about .1 lb per stroke) to make small adjustments to air pressure close enough for my uses, so I never need to do this or take a second reading and would rather not risk running any more sealant than necessary into the tool. I've only owned them for a few months so no complaints about battery life yet. It is of course helpful that holding down the power will turn the tool off instead of allowing it to turn itself off, but the auto shut off is key. If you are tired of heavy fragile mechanical spring gauges, give this a try and keep the box.

DECEPTIVE PRODUCT LISTING! MADE IN CHINA, NOT GERMANY!!!
The product listing clearly says SKS still makes their products in GERMANY. From the listing: "SKS items are still designed and manufactured in Sundern, Germany. We will continue to innovate and manufacture the highest quality cycling accessories for years to come." There are no indications anywhere that this overpriced digital gauge ($27.88) is manufactured anywhere but Germany. Look closely at my photos. At the bottom it clearly says: "Made in PRC." In my opinion this is extremely deceptive and unfair to customers who thought they were paying more for a quality product made in GERMANY, not CHINA. I am very unhappy. The world over no one equates quality from Germany with quality from China. On the off-chance it might still be a useful electronic gauge, I tried the SKS Germany Airchecker Digital Pressure Gauge a number of times. For Schrader valves, it is easy to use, and was accurate. Presta valves were a different story. The measurements were WILDLY inaccurate. The Presta valve on my bike consistently measured 30 PSI using the other gauges I owned. With the SKS model it measured between 9-12 PSI, when I could get a reading at all. If I pushed really hard, almost to the point where I feared the plastic would break in my hand, I managed measurements in the 26-27 PSI range. Only 10% inaccuracy instead of 70% inaccuracy. I've noticed that some SKS gauges in the reviews for this product have silver faces, which is not the same as the product I received. Maybe it is a cosmetic change, or maybe it indicates older models still made in Germany. I'd beware reviews that show a different product. One video review has a demonstration, and I will say mine does not work like that at all. In the video the gauge makes a nice clean connection, where mine leaks air and cannot make a clean seal no matter how many times I try. I am racing to the Amazon return counter at Whole Foods. Sending it back is the easiest decision I have ever made in my life. In my opinion it is useless garbage.

Gets the pressure right
Even though I have an electric inflator with a set pressure cut off, I do use this tool a lot. The inflator often overshoots and its chuck, while being very good otherwise, does not have a bleed valve. So I use this gauge to bleed tire to the pressure I want. It's very quick and accurate. I only use the Presta end and it has no problems with sealing on the valve. It has a fixed mode, when it beeps and keeps displaying the measured value, which is probably handy when your tires do not lose much air and allows for quick check. And also there is a continuous mode, where it displays current pressure reading, useful when bleeding the tire down. I mostly use the latter because all my tires lose several psi overnight, but the former would be useful for me if it was not the case. Despite backlit display it's not eating batteries, I had been using it daily on multiple bikes with the same battery it came with for a couple of months, and the battery is still going. Also it uses a standard CR2320 cell, which is much better than a built-in rechargeable in my opinion. One less thing to recharge and many bikes already use CR2320s so you likely have replacements laying around.

Accurate and really well design and built
Really good pressure gauge from SKS I trust this for my race bikes and car. Easy to use and nice ergonomic design. No air leak and easy to reduce pressure if needed. Multiple measurement types. So far very durable as expected from SKS. Tested against other gauges and proven to be consistent.

OK - hit and miss depending on your valve
When the valve fits its great. However, there are too many problems with certain valves (I only use presta-style valves - and yes I read the manual carefully and looked at videos on how to use correctly which is a must to avoid certain mistakes). Manual could be a lot better and the one on their home page is outdated (seriously?). Long live youtube!
