14TB WD Purple Pro Surveillance Internal Hard Drive HDD - SATA 6 Gb/s, 512 MB Cache, 3.5" - WD141PURP

Utilizing the WD Purple drives in my NAS Blueiris Server, which diligently records footage from 12 cameras around the clock, has been an astute decision. While configuring my storage solution, I weighed several considerations, and one that prominently featured was my acceptance of potential catastrophic drive loss on that data. This decision led me to opt out of running backups or implementing a RAID configuration. However, I still yearned for a level of reliability that would minimize the need for frequent server intervention. That's where WD Purple drives have truly excelled. These drives have proven to be the perfect fit for my needs. Their specialized design for surveillance systems and continuous recording provides a reassuring level of durability and performance. I appreciate that they can withstand the constant write cycles, ensuring longevity even under demanding 24/7 operation. While I've accepted the possibility of drive failure, the reliability of WD Purple drives has given me peace of mind that I won't have to tinker with the server frequently. They've struck that sweet spot between reliability and performance, making them the ideal choice for those who prioritize continuous surveillance recording without the need for complex redundancy systems. WD Purple drives have been the dependable backbone of my surveillance setup, and I couldn't be happier with their performance.

Arrived next day and they work 🤩 thank you!

Purchased drive for an application that constantly writes content. Read many reviews for both Western Digital purple and Seagate Skyhawk. The reviews were pretty even and Western Digital had a larger 512gb buffer and slightly cheaper. Please note, we purchased the 14tb drive and have 13tb usable after formatting. Please keep this in mind for space planning. Performance has been great. Watching disk queue length and not seeing bottlenecks at the disk level. Longevity is unknown right now. If we experience a premature failure or significant change in drive use experience we will update our review. Right now we are very happy with the drive and have plans to buy more.

Works great in my Unifi Protect NVR. In service since September 11, 2023 with no issues.

It's already been two years since I purchased this product, but the reason I'm writing a review now is because this product is a really good hard drive. Due to the nature of my job, I use hard disks a lot. I always use a hard disk when installing a camera, but before using this product, I always had problems with the hard disk and had to go to service. Since finding, purchasing, and using this product, the number of times I have to go to service for a hard disk problem has become very rare. Due to the nature of the camera hard drive running 24 hours a day, I highly recommend this product.

Works great, but.... The 3.5" drives I have been using have three holes on each side - front, rear, and middle (probably about 40% from one edge). This has been standard on 3.5" ages even since Fred Flintstone used the electric eel powered computer. SNIA standard SFF-8301 provides for the current 4 mounting holes (front/back, each side). Western Digital no longer includes the optional third hole, which prevented the drive from using rails in an existing system i built from parts back in 2011.

Use for my UDM Pro and it's been hauling for 3 cameras.

Defective product and seller won’t make it right.

بعد تركيب الهاردسك اتضح انه لا يعمل ويوجد به خلل ....

Great price. Nearly half the price of buying locally. Ran 0s and 1s across the entire drive. Came back fine.

Cheapest I could find this device was through Amazon. Works as expected and arrived in time. Recommended!
