how do you load the scotch tape in the despenser

The roll is placed so that the tape runs counter clockwise with the sticky side on the underside. Pull the tape under the metal lever an up toward the cutting blade. When taping the box you stick the tape to the left side of the box, pull it across, and down the right side. Use the plastic shield to press against the tape and box so that the blade can cut the tape. If you find the tape running loose and sticking to the metal lever turn the brake on the wheel. You tighten and loosen that brake until you find the tension on the tape that is comfortable for you.

Can this dispenser be used with 1.88 inch Scotch shipping tape?

Yes, it is the correct tape to fit a 2" dispenser. The tape is just a bit narrower so it will properly fit.
