The Musician's Guide to Theory and Analysis

I've played classical piano since I was a kid and recently wanted to try to make some music of my own and the pieces I wrote sounded either terrible or very unoriginal(I - V - vii - VI etc), so bought this book to give me a systematic view of music and answering "what makes a piece sound like the artist". A bit hard to read at first but the online access code that came with the book helped a lot as it gave access to the student quizzes and after doing the exercises I finally felt I have remembered the theory. The online access code which gives you access to the interactive exercises I feel is as important as the book itself.

we're not all in high school or college. i'm trying to work my way through music theory. this set is USELESS to me without an answer key.

Easy way to learn the basics of music theory. Usually a staple in the college environment.

It works. I can read for it and also not as expensive as if I had bought it from the actual website.
