This book is much more than just a pattern book, although the sampler patterns are exceptional. The author draws on her years of study and collecting U.K samplers to give you a rich understanding of the types and development of sampler work. She provides 30 original sampler charts, each of which is based on specific historic sampler types. With this book in hand, you will be inspired to not only work her designs, but create your own. And, the final design in the book, a sampler sewing box is just amazing. It is a true work of art, inspiring and challenging.

The patterns are amazing. I love the photos of the antique samplers. The techniques section is really good. The sampler box project was an unexpected jewel! Thank you for keeping the craft alive!

What a beautiful book. I almost ordered the older version a few weeks ago. I am SO glad that I didn't because recently I saw this new UPDATED version. There are beautiful samplers to see and lots to read about in this and some wonderful samplers to make. Its a gorgeous book!!

I am delighted with this book. There are several lovely sampler designs with precise charts, cottons and fabrics to complete them. I particularly like the different stitches used to embellish the basic cross stitches with clear instructions how to do these. The history of samplers is also very interesting.
