I bought the Pat Your Pet double-sided deshedding brush to help control loose hair on my indoor cats and my long-haired dog. Overall it’s a dependable, budget-friendly grooming tool that made a noticeable difference when used regularly. What I liked: Effective at removing loose undercoat: The fine-toothed deshedding side pulls out loose hair and undercoat without needing repeated passes. After a few minutes on my long-haired dog, I removed a surprising amount of loose fur. Double-sided versatility: One side for deshedding/undercoat removal and a gentler grooming side for smoothing and finishing is handy — one tool covers both tasks. Comfortable handle: The grip is ergonomic and non-slip, which makes it easier to use through a long session without hand fatigue. Skin-friendly when used properly: When used gently and in the direction of hair growth, it doesn’t irritate skin. Good for routine maintenance rather than aggressive mat removal. Easy to clean: Most of the hair pulls away from the teeth easily and the brush rinses clean. What could be better: Not ideal for severe matting: It’s for deshedding and light grooming; it won’t replace a mat splitter or professional grooming for heavy mats or tangles. Careful on sensitive skin/short-coated breeds: If pressed hard or used incorrectly, the deshedding side can feel scratchy on thin-skinned or very short-coated pets. Use light pressure.

I am truly surprised by how wonderfully this works; it is a lifesaver!! My sheepadoodle, Ollie, has two coats. We live in Louisiana where it is very hot, so he gets very hot! It is also difficult to find groomers for him because he is 106 lbs. Even though he wouldn't hurt a fly, they see him coming and think dear Lord! His coat gets thicker and thicker despite the temperatures and so brushing him everyday was not enough. However let me say that you do need to brush them and make sure they do not have tangles before running this through their hair. I did hit a snag and he was not happy about that, but otherwise he was totally into having me comb him with this thing! I think he thought it was a spa day. I had to include pictures because I couldn't believe how much hair I got off of him. I should have taken pictures the first day, but I didn't think about it, so remember this is day two. I didn't want to do too much at one time because I want him to actually enjoy it. All of this hair would have ended up on my carpet, and he would have been miserably hot. It's easy to clean and for the money that I spent on it I probably saved hundreds of dollars at a groomer. I am so glad that I found this wonderful tool!

Works amazing! I have a border collie/australian shepherd mix and I brush him twice a week; I still end up with fur everywhere in my house. I got this and I could not believe the amount of fur that came off with one brushing! It’s very easy to use and my dog doesn’t mind it at all. I wish I knew about this tool sooner!

It works great! It definitely doesn’t eliminate the need for formal grooming as I’ve seen in videos but it removes a ton of hair. I’m very happy with it. It’s very durable and easy to hold onto.

Worked well but broke after six months. My dog is a shorthair mix and was never subject to tangles, etc so I coulld brush him using very little force, so this was not from stress caused by forceful brushing. The issue seems to be the post that goes into the handle is ABS plastic and it snapped just inside the handle. I superglued it but it snapped again a could of days later. It's too bad as this was a really useful brush, combed well without clumping hair. Just a weak stress point in the design.

One of my cats has long hair and hates being brushed, so has often gotten matted and has needed to he taken to the vet for sedation and shaving, which isn't great for his health, my bank or nice for him if it's getting colder. Regular brushes just pulled at his fur and he would bite and scratch to get away and nothing helped. I bought this thinking I probably won't have any more luck with it, but am actually so pleased. It cuts through the knots and pulls out all the excess fur with ease and minimal pulling. Even though he still doesn't enjoy being brushed with it, I can get more strokes in before he tries to leave and it's actually working rather than just brushing the fur on top and doing nothing to the knots underneath. If you have a pet who gets knots then definitely get this!

My cats don't really like to be brushed so I've never been able to get their thick undercoat out before with other brushes. this brush gets so much downy undercoat it looks like fur from a differnt cat. It works so well I have to put them on a towel to contain the fur. They don't resist brushing with this like they have other ones and seems to feel comfortable for them.
