I have purchased many things from Amazon, including vitamins and supplements, usually with success. Today I was not so lucky. I ordered a variety of supplements last week, all produced by Metabolic Maintenance, including the Big One without iron. I usually buy these supplements directly from the maker, and have always been extremely satisfied with all of their products, especially the Big One without Iron, which I use on a daily basis. I was pleased with the discount I received from Amazon, so I decided to order them on line. They were shipped in four boxes. The first three arrived intact. The fourth box, which contained five supplements, including The Big One, arrived today. Four of the bottles were intact. The fifth, the Big One, was broken, and the contents were packed in a separate plastic bag. The capsules were broken into bits and powdery pieces and mixed in with the broken glass -- all of it placed in a baggie with a warning label suggesting that the baggie could be dangerous to children, etc. I have NEVER received anything from any distributor in such deplorable, to say nothing of dangerous, condition. There was no note of apology or explanation -- and no receipt or order information. Just the four bottles of supplements -- and the broken, bagged one. According to the original receipt, The Big One without iron was sold to Amazon.com by Action Development Group. The bottle must have broken on its way to Amazon. The broken bottle and its contents were evidently put into the baggie and sent to me by Amazon, since the label on the return address is: Amazon Fulfillment Services, 172 Trade Street, Lexington, KY 40511, USA. I called Amazon.com, reported the problem, and asked for an explanation and a replacement. I was told that Amazon orders from various vendors and cannot issue a replacement. Instead they issued a credit. If I want the supplement, I have to reorder. Since I was already late in placing the order, I will be without the supplement, which my husband and I take daily, until I can order it directly from the company next Monday. I will think twice before ordering vitamins and supplements and any other products from Amazon that require careful handling and packing. They are obviously not up to the job.
