It is slightly more than an inch and a half w/o the bristles, and about 2 and a half inches with the bristles.

Don't waste your money

Pros - the brush has a nice square handle, which is great for styling. Cons - it's just a brush, it has taken some frizz out of my hair but my normal bristle brush does a similar job. not easy to clean.

Amazing Brush

Does hairbrush is a little bit on the price of your side however I’ve been using it for years. After a couple years, the handle does tend to break so I don’t like that but the barrel transfers the heat from the blow dryer and curl my hair beautifully. I purchased a medium size brush and I probably should’ve got the large and instead of sending it back I’m going to keep it and purchase the large because I love them that much. Highly recommend.
