The New York Times Strictly Medium Crossword Puzzles Volume 1: 200 Medium Puzzles

A rewarding challenge! I’m pretty good at NYTimes Sunday crosswords and this is indeed a nice medium level. Difficult, but solvable. NYTimes puzzles are tricky, and have a theme that can take a lot of time and thought to pin down. If you are not accustomed to NYTimes puzzles, start with the “strictly easy.”

Lots of puzzles

Got this book of puzzles to share with my boyfriend because it's way cheaper than a New York Times Games subscription. The crosswords are a lot more challenging than I expected-- we can't solve them without turning to Google with the occasional question-- but very satisfying to complete. Since each puzzle takes us several days to get through, the book will last us years.

Once I got the hang of the clues. I found this puzzle book very enjoyable. It certainly expands my vocabulary and get my mind working. Great product.this

The book is supposed to be medium hardness, but I find it actually hard. Also, the print is small and I strain to see it. I would not buy this particular book again.

I think these are well-described - they are "medium" for NYT puzzles. There are some clever twists, which some solvers like, and some don't. The puzzles are un-named, but you can often get a hint at the twists if you scan the clues way down in the A or D sections to find the common feature that appears for multiple entries.

Harder than it seems

As many of the other reviewers stated, many of the answers make no sense. With so many of the answers being non-sensical it makes it really difficult to complete any puzzles. It’s really frustrating to finally look up an answer in the back, only to be “what the heck is that”. Some of the answers actually incorporate numbers. Type is really small.

Of the crossword books I've ordered, this one is my favourite. It's not too hard or too easy, and the pen-to-paper "feel" is satisfying. I'm only half-way through solving the puzzles in this book and have already decided I will order the same book again once I'm finished. (Maybe, just maybe, I'll remember some of the answers next time.)

a good alternative to doing crosswords on my phone, I picked this up so I could spend some time not looking at a screen, and am glad that I got the medium level, as I'm not at the higher difficulties at this moment.

The clues are often to do with specific US locations and landmarks, as is history and culture - Broadway musicals etc So, although well put together, I would not recommend for those not 100% familiar with US culture.

Good puzzles and convenient size book.
