Not in the side pockets, they can withstand up to 22 oz cups

will this be big enough for my 8th grader to use at school? she carries a chromebook plus a binder and a book or 2

Yes! I purchased this same bag for my daughter when she entered 10th grade. She used it through high school, all 4 years of college and it is still in amazing shape. It will hold a laptop, a binder and a book!

Which north face bookbag do u recommend for a female that’s 5’1?

Hi! I adore the "Jester" North Face Laptop backpack. It is the perfect size for my 15 inch laptop and all of my teacher supplies. I do not think it will be too large for a woman with a 5'1" heighth.
