what happen if there is a fault in the ground or a lightning strike?

While I don't know for certain, I would expect a direct lightening strike to have far more impact on your home than your aquarium alone. The probe is intended to remove stray electric from 'leaking' heaters, lights, etc., not to protect from a direct lightening strike to your home.

Do i have to attach the metal ring to the wall outlet screw? Im confused on what that piece is for.

Only if you don't have a grounded outlet but it wouldn't hurt

I know this is for fish tanks but could I clip my anti static wrist band to the probe ( or little metal loop ) and be properly grounded?

Yes and no. You should get an antistatic strap - as they have a resistive load in the band to help avoid shocks to you. Also they have a diode that protects you from being a grounding point if you connect it incorrectly to a ground point. Get products designed for you work/activities is a better approach - as well the static band would be cheaper.

Dear Sir/Madam, I have many years of experience with grounding human beings and animals, but I have no experience with earthworms. I advise you to do an experiment and you will have the best answer. Personally, I think that worms in wet soil are very well grounded, so that additional grounding with an electrode will not feel or significantly affect their habits and movement.
