Does the plastic gripping surface have enough friction to unscrew smooth metal faucet aerators?

I believe so, I've used it on filter cartridges that are a large diameter smooth steel, and it gripped well

The pads are 1/3" or about 8.6mm wide.

Thes pliers are a nicely manufactered soft jaw plier made for getting off stuck items in aviation use. However we use them for removing stuck valve caps on trumpet and baritone hornsIts a medium sized plier and and the jaws are adjustable. Nice product.
