Since its founding in 1916, British Vogue has acted as a cultural barometer, placing fashion in the context of art, literature, and politics. The magazine has captured the zeitgeist of each decade—the austerity and optimism that followed two world wars, the swinging London scene of the sixties, the radical seventies, the image-conscious eighties—and continues to be on the cutting edge of design and photography. Decade by decade, Vogue 100 presents the greatest moments in the magazine’s history—the photography, illustrations, and essays that recorded the fashion and taste of the time. Complete with essays that detail the rich history of each decade, the book covers the artists, designers, photographers, and writers who shaped the cultural landscape of the 20th century and beyond. With more than 300 photographs of these pivotal figures—from Matisse to Bacon, Freud to Hirst, Dietrich to Paltrow, and Schiaparelli to McQueen— Vogue 100 offers an in-depth look at a century of Britain’s fashion, art, and culture. A Chic Century as only Vogue can do it....
I love a glossy book but once opened and looked at, they often gather dust. This beauty from Vogue offers so much more. I bought my first Vogue in 1987 - Christy Turlington was on the cover, and so my love for the ultimate style bible began. Firstly, the cover is a brilliant reflection of what is inside - where else but Vogue could you find such a superb image? The book itself features not just fashion history from the past century but social and cultural signposts. Prominent designers, photographers, models and famous faces are documented and the quantity of the print is beautiful. I particularly enjoyed the more recent history of Vogue under the stewardship of editor Alexandra Shulman - it will be interesting to see what the next chapter will be. In this era of online communications, Vogue is still the best way of encountering aspirational style, and this book is a great purchase for anyone who simply loves fashion. I might not be here in 100 years to see what happens next, but I have no doubt Vogue will still be here....

Eleganza e costume per immagini
Semplicemente il racconto di un secolo con immagini eccezionali. Ritratti che evocano ricordi, che illustrano la vita oltre a magnifiche note di eleganZa e moda.

Well worth the price!
I was originally going to buy this from the NPG when I went to visit the Vogue 100 Exhibition, but Amazon had an offer on. Even with the discount I think this book is definitely worth full price- if not more than the RRP. Gorgeous images and great history- it mimics the exhibition so you can have a piece of history at home. A definite collectors item!

Amazing Book to Commerate Vogue's Centenary!
Purchased this book after attending the Vogue 100 Exhibition at The National Portrait Gallery (tickets shown). It is an amazing photo book with high-quality pictures throughout and a great reference for creatives. It is also great value through Amazon - costs much less than at the Exhibition Shop. Would definitely recommend!
